An authentic, copper colored, German-style Bock, celebrating the coming of spring. This big, deeply flavored lager has been aged to create a smooth, malty taste with a hint of sweetness. A light addition of German hops balances the malt flavor.

Poured from a 12oz bottle with no BBD, into a pilsner glass.
A: Light brown in color. Poured a quickly dissipating off white head. Moderate carbonation can be seen. Head is not clingy and there isn't much to speak of for a film on the glass.
S: Seems to take you on a journey. Starts you off thinking chocolate, but quickly turns to a coffee bean scent. Then the dark roasted malts kick in with an undertone of hops. Very interesting spread.
T: Leaves something to be desired from the smell. Leads with a slightly bitter hops. Falls off to the dark roasted malts. A slight chocolate after taste, almost non-existent.
M: Medium bodied beer that doesn't leave the mouth too dry. Enough carbonation to let you know the beer is still good. Doesn't leave a heavy oil feel.
D: A beer that you will know how many you drank. Doesn't really go down quickly, but it is something that can be enjoyed.

Crystal clear deep amber with a vigorous three finger light tan head. Aromas of grain and malt. Taste of malt, grain, bread and slight toffee. Nice medium mouthfeel and spot on carbonation for the style. A good beer.

$9.99 from Walmart, 12 oz. Can poured into pilsner glass
Look: Copper, two-finger tan head, medium carbonation, nice lacing
Smell: Strong Malt, some bread, burnt sugar
Taste: Heavy on malt, a little sweetness on the back end. No skunk. Nice finish
Feel: Good Carbonation, nice mouthfeel, flavor lingers
Overall: I like it. It has a nice complexity while easy enough to drink. Smooth and I don't feel like I am chewing the beer.

Pours a deep amber, clear, with a one-finger cream to tan head. Head dissipates quickly leaving no lacing and just a slight ring around the top of the liquid. High number up tiny bubbles racing up throughout.
Sweet, malty nose. Grain, toffee, and caramel. All malt, no hop to me. Luckily, I like malt.
Like the nose, it’s sweet and malty, but there’s a pleasant balancing bitterness. Caramel and bread. Wish it had a bit more complexity.
Notable carb, fairly light-bodied for the color/style/maltiness. Surprisingly, dry finish.
I like this beer and I welcome its appearance each spring. I’d like to say that the whole is better than the sum of its parts - when I broke it down for rating, I didn’t find a lot of special qualities. Perhaps, in Texas, it just feels like a treat over the ubiquitous Shiner Bock.

Looks dark copperish brown with a khaki head.
Smells like brown bread, some spice, a little molasses, maybe some burnt sugar.
Tastes bread crusts, brown bread, some earthiness, a hint of molasses. So much better than the mass produced bocks in the yellow cans.
Mouthfeel is medium.
Overall I think it’s great, it’s different than a German import but it’s still great in its on way.

Decent, but a little too hop-forward for a bock, IMO.
