Style: Kölsch

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 4.90%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
A true German-style Kölsch. Originally brewed in Cologne, this beer is crisp and refreshing, yet has a sweet malty body that is balanced by a complex, citrus hop character. Multiple additions of German Hallertauer hops are used to achieve this delicate flavor. We use a special Kölsch yeast, an ale yeast that ferments at lager temperatures, to yield the slightly fruity, clean flavor of this beer. Fancy Lawnmower Beer is a world class brew yet light enough to be enjoyed by Texans after strenuous activities, like mowing the lawn.

Great for a hot summer day, this has become one of my favorites. After all it's usually warm in Texas. Very smooth a bit citrusy. Definitely recommend if you can get your hands on it.

A thin, white head lingers on this brew. The dark amber color is pleasing and there is a slight herbal fragrance. This brew is deceptively simple and easy to drink, but is actually wonderfully nuanced. Overall, there is a pilsner like bitternes, which is nicely balenced by the floral kolsch malt. Nothing over-dramatic here, just great beer

Poured from 12-ounce can into straight-sided mug. Very attractive pour, clear pale golden color with tons of fluffy white head and tons of carbonation. Malt forward aroma, with notes of light cracker and just a hint of phenolic character. Taste follows the nose, with quite a bit of hop bitterness to balance out the sweet maltiness. I did not get the crispness I was expecting on the finish. There was a rather unpleasant cloying sweetness lingering on the tongue that detracted from the overall experience. Even so, a very solid offering from Saint Arnold.

Had this while down in Houston. Nice crisp clean smell that comes off a little better than the taste. This is a pretty solid Kolsch. I would put it middle of the road of the ones I have had. Good flavor but could be a bit fuller.

Poured out of a bottle into a nonic pint (because it was handy, I suppose), and received a nice straw, gold pour with a great head with minimal lacing. NO real aroma that I could discern, basic beer smell. Fantastic flavor, crisp, like a fresh apple, with a nice effervescence and nice tartness, with no bitter or metallic aftertaste. Clean. Exceptional beer.

True Kolsh. Not my favorite style, but good for a hot day.

On tap in a pint glass.

Light bright yellow-gold color with a 1F white cap. Heavy lacing.

Grainy and grassy with just a touch of floral hops. There's some lemon for funk.

Sweet malt, grassy hops, lemony yeast.

Refreshing feel, light body, good carb. Gentle hops.

Good and easy drinking kolsch. Not as much bite as others that I've had but it certainly invites seconds.

12 oz. Bottle into a footed pilsner. Clear gold, almost like BMC pils. A shade darker. Very drinkable looking.
The nose is soapy, grassy, hay, yeast.
The taste is awesome! Follows nose but way more intense. Almost farmhouse/saisony to me. A fine bitterness at the finish. Very enjoyable!
Crisp on the tongue and a little dryness.
Overall a great beer! I keep this in my fridge year round. Very thirst quinching! Everyone should try this brew!
