On cask at several places around town. Most recently at Hay Merchant.
A: At first pours a slightly chilled hazed color. That eventually clears ups. A dense, two finger white head forms with great retention. Rings of lace are left behind.
S: The caramel and bready malt base is apparent and great. The hops come next. Which is very perfume like. Tropical fruits, citrus, with even a peppermint quality that I find interesting. A light and balanced bitterness lingers.
T: Like the nose, a great malty base. Sweet caramel, some baked bread. Which quickly gives way to the hops. I get pepperminty, perfume like hops, and tropical fruits and citrus fruits. Everything is so well balanced.
M/D: A medium body with fine carbonation. Actually, near perfect amount of effervescents for a cask. So smooth and clean. With a dry hoppy finish. I have had numerous pints, so enjoyable.
Have had cask and bottle. From bottle, this is great, from cask this is exceptional. Perfectly simple, with the base beer balancing out the great hop character. Which does not surprise me. Really well done. I wish this was regular Amber.
