Received as an extra in a trade.
A - Poured into my Duvel tulip a nice crystal clear burnt orange hue with a massive three finger off white head that fades to leave a thin wispy head and creamy halo.
S - Aromas of some tart cherries, maybe a little bit of vinous notes, light toasted oak. some decent funk thanks to the brett but it alternated between the good funk and the old locker room bad type.
T - Taste is similar to the nose, nice tart cherries. Almost kriek like. Little bit of toasted barrel and oak, flashes of pleasant brett funk. Finish is dry and there is a flavour there...not quite metallic but almost. Stale malts and an almost cardboard caramel flavour as well.
M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, body is light as well and feels thin as well as slick.
O - Overall I don't think this beer has held up well to age. It's not a drain pour, however, it's not really an enjoyable drinking experience.

From 12oz bottle dated 11/23/15. Thanks Stein in NOLA for hooking me up with this one.
Massive bubbly cream colored head that makes a lot of noise as it settles. Murky copperish brown color. Dissipates fast leaving ring 4.50
Smells of cherries and it reminds me of a good Belgium Kriek. Slight wine aroma but not very evident. 4.25
Tastes and feel is very tart but not real soury, slightly bitter. The Cherry is there but not pronounced as I would have expected by the aroma. Somewhat dry and leaves little aftertaste. No barrel characteristics. 4.00
Overall kind of disappointing in flavor but really shines in the look and smell department

The white wine barrel aging gives this beer a bit of a funky twang.
Very drinkable. The high ABV is well hidden. Definitely a beer I would have more of and one for the cellar as well.

Christmas Ale aged in Sauvignon Blanc barrels with Cherries and Brett.
Absolutely delicious. Tart cherries. Brett very present but not dominate. Beautiful orange rust red color. Rich nuances of barrel and wine. All extremely complementary... Nothing distracts. Very complex but not a thinkers beer. Just a joy to have such a well crafted ale.

Poured into tall tulip, deep golden ale with red tint, head gone very quickly, but effervescence remains. Cherries on the nose followed by wood. Again, cherries on the tongue that overpower just about everything else except the wood. Wine characteristics barely present and do not integrate with the cherries. Tastes like a battle between cherries, wood, and wine with winners in that order. Wanting more character from the base beer, but aside from some sourness it just is not there. A bit thinner than expected, and should not be called an old ale, but if looked at as a brett sour it fits.
