12oz bottle poured into a snifter
Bottled 6/7/16
Aged in Woodford Reserve barrels for 11 months

A- pours a deep black color with a thin one-finger khaki head that quickly reduces to a ring around the edge

S- wet oak and bourbon nose up front with undertones of toffee and vanilla. Beyond the barrel, rich herbal and earthy espresso notes poke through, adding elements of mocha & vanilla cream

T- plenty of bourbon notes coming from the Woodford barrel, adding barrel juice, vanilla and oaky flavors. Mid-palate brings out some undertones of earthy espresso & mocha cream. The finish adds a bit of dark fruit, as well as more bourbon on the linger

M- medium body with moderate carbonation leads to a slightly foamy mouthfeel and finish

O- plenty of barrel notes throughout are complimented by some nice coffee, very good

This is a perfect example of what is meant by a Barrel Aged Imperial Stout. Black, opaque, and thick with chocolate, coffee, and bourbon barrel assaulting your senses. Damned good.

Delicious. Taste is dark, rich chocolate, coffee, soft bourbon, light oaky vanilla, roasted malts. Lingering coffee and bourbon notes. Nice mouthfeel, but I'd prefer a touch thicker and a touch less carbonated. Excellent beer. Nose follows taste.

12 oz. bottle. Black body with a medium khaki head. Smells of coffee, bourbon, some vanilla and oak. Tastes of strong coffee, but pretty rich and chocolately coffee. Dark chocolate. Oak. Sharp bourbon. Nutty finish. A little boozy and pretty heavy. Tasty.

A: Poured into a snifter to a deep black topped by a finger of dense tan head that fades quickly to a collar around the edge of the glass with minimal lacing
S: The nose on this beer is lots of coffee with a little bit of roasted malts, chocolate, caramel and vanilla
T: Taste is coffee and roasted malts with some caramel, vanilla and oak from the barrel, dark chocolate and more coffee. Swallow is caramel and vanilla with a bit more oak and lingering coffee and chocolate on the finish
M: This beer is thick and velvety with perfect carbonation for the style and a drying finish
O: Overall this is a really tasty beer. It has great complexity and the flavors are nice. The barrel presence is good without being too much. Definitely one to try if you like bourbon barrel aged stouts and coffee.

l- pitch black with tan head that fades quickly.
s- toasted oak, vanilla, big dark fustiness, a bit of booze. awesome smell.
t- BIg, big bourbon barrel.Vanilla, coffee, fruity sweetness. Not for beginners lol!!!!
f- Super thick and sticky, a nice slow sipper. I would have been even bitter on winter. Awesome beer!!!!!
Overall- This brewery has not disappointed. I haven't tried all there beers, but the ones I have had are solid. The beer might be a bit to much for first people just getting into craft beers. But I don't think St. Arnie Care. This is a beer for stout lovers. !!!!!

Saint arnold does it again. This beer is amazing. Great body and super smooth, very dry for such a big beer (im not a fan of overly sweet stouts). Bourbon is big and present but not harsh in any way. Very very nice

Pouters nice black into my stout glass. Nice small khaki head settled quickly. Smelled of nice roasted malts, huge chocolate, bourbon, with a expresso (ish) coffee smell. Taste was what I'd expect from a RIS that has some nice malty chocolate notes and was balanced out with a perfect coffee strength. The bourbon is there but not overpowering in my opinion, but makes it appearance more apparent as it warms. They nailed it on this one and I will pick more up!

12oz bottle, poured into a snifter bottled on 06/07/16.

Pours jet black with 1/4 finger of head that recedes to a faint ring. Smell is of Bourbon and coffee. Flavors of oak, vanilla, bourbon, rich espresso coffee and some faint tobacco notes. Mouthfeel is thin and the coffee really balances out the alcohol.

A nicely done barrel aged coffee stout. I like that the coffee is not overpowering and allows the base stout and the barrel to come through for a great balance of flavors. Finishes with sweet coffee. Ranks right up there with the best of the BB series.

Smell: chocolate, sweet malts, caramel, not in the brew bit i get pepper skin, no coffee

Taste: coffee is definitely in the taste, i keep getting pepper skin, not hot, but that pepper skin taste, bourbon then oak as it warms.. quite simple

Mid to full mouthfeel

Overall im very solid bba coffee stout

St. Arnold's has perfected their Barrel Aged Series. It took them 14 attempts but this is their finest in my opinion. SM. notice the coffe roasts immediately. Pour. Dark chocolate. Like swimming in mud. Tan head that disappears quickly. Taste. So many subtle tones with this very complex beverage. Noticable dark roasted coffee with delicious vanilla overtones that is followed by the bourbon subtle undertones. Extremely well balanced. Overall this is St Arnold's best beverage to date. Delicious barrel aged beverage that should be enjoyed one sip at a time. Tip of the hat to you St Arnold's. Definitely a beverage to be enjoyed.

I had a glass of this and I must say that the use of coffee to subdue the 12.1% was a really nice touch. This beer is big and bold but yet so drinkable.

A: Pours pretty much opaque black. No light gets through at all, with a small tan head that forms and recedes in a second. Light lace is left behind.
S: Roast, milk chocolate, vanilla and oak tannins in the nose. Coffee is apparent, but no more than some other non Coffee stouts. Still, the balance is incredible here. Well done.
T: Like the nose, this is superbly balanced. Dark chocolate, roasted malts, oak and tannins. Vanilla sweetness with some coffee, but again very light. Especially considering this is a coffee stout. Not that this is a bad thing, but it does not seem as noticeable as I would like.
M/O: A big full body with moderate carbonation. Smooth and creamy at the same time. Not overly viscous or thick, which I always like for the style. It is big without being overpowering. Very easy to drink because of that.

The base of this is DR 15, and barrel aged. So basically Bishop's Barrel 8 with coffee. BB 8 being one of the best barrel aged stouts I have had. I am amazed at how balanced this is, which really adds to the likability and really easy to enjoy. Well made, but was hoping the coffee would shine a little more. Even so something that is still really good and would highly recommend.
