Bomber. Pours deep brown, almost black, thin tan head. Pumpkin pie spice, rich aroma. Taste is powerful, a little sharp with the spice, better as it warms. Some booziness present. Thin oily mouthfeel. Overall good for an imperial pumpkin, was hoping for more subtle spice and could be a bit thicker.

Really nice pumpkin stout. Spice comes through most and then pumpkin flavor which all blends together with lighter stout. Blend is fantastic. One of the better pumpkin beers I've had.

Too much spice like these things always are. Got it because I couldn't get any of the Bishop's series.

N: cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin spice

T: sticky sugary syrup and molasses. Tons of spice

F: thick, light to med mouthfeel.

O: fair beer. Their BB8 is way better.

All my previous pumpkin beers being ales, I was taken aback by this one being near-black, not realizing it's a stout. Would have liked a lot more of a head from it; unrestrained pouring gave it barely much at all, but the deep, dark brown opaque color of the brew is nice.

The smell is fantastic. Might be my favorite and probably the best smelling pumpkin beer I've had. It carries the sweet, pumpkin pie-ness of greats such as Pumking and Whole Hog, but with a heavier, darker character that's probably coming from the molasses, giving it an aroma you'd expect from a stout version of this style. There aren't many beers where I've felt like just sticking my nose in the glass for hours (e.g. Breakfast Stout), but this is one of them.

By contrast, it's one of the strangest letdowns I've ever had from smell to taste. It's a little bit muddled and grimey, faintly burnt. Not horrible, by any means, but certainly not living up to the smell. I prefer my beers warmer than most drinkers, but especially this one needs to be drunk closer to room temperature to give the flavor some chance.

Part of the taste disappointment comes on the thinner body feel than was both expected and than seems suitable for any stout, let alone a pumpkin one.

Again, not a bad beer, by any means, and the real apex and celebration is in the nose, but the taste is just too vague, and the feel too thin to make it a slam dunk. Worth repeating, but not ad infinitum like some others.

Looks: extreamly dark, black, dark tan head, fine lacing

Smell: pumpkin but faint

Taste: burnt pumpkin upfront, finishes out with a malty. burnt, ever so slightly bitter, pumpkin

Feel: quite thin mouth feel for a stout, best in a goblet like glass for smoothness; a pint glass makes the beer stagnate

Overall: good seasonal beer, very different than most
