Style: Hefeweizen

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.40%

Availability: Limited (brewed once)

Notes / Commercial Description:
Brewer Sam Wright's Description: The recipe for Amarillo Hefe came from a beer I developed for my sister and brother in law's wedding. They wanted a hefeweizen for their reception, and I decided to put my own twist on it. Since some people like to put lemon or orange slices in hefes, I figured I could replace that with the bright citrus flavor and aroma of Amarillo hops. The base beer starts as a fairly traditional Hefe. As fermentation starts to putter out, a healthy dose of Amarillos are dry hopped to complement the banana and clove flavors of the yeast. The balance gives an impression of added spice flavor, but no spice was added. Just malt, hops, yeast, and water. Enjoy!

Poured from 12 oz bottle into travel tulip. purchased at Steins Deli in NOLA for like $2.
Pours a golden color with just a thin white bubbly head. Meh...
Nice aromas redeeming itself...fruity hop meets banana clove hefe aroma. Taste is very similar. Crisp golden malty with minimal banana and clove hefe typical flavor, but a nice fruity finish. Its super easy to drink, but nothing spectacular. Cool concept, but it seems to be lacking in wow factor...and more importantly, classic flavor. Its either gotta be wow or classic, and this falls in between. Its good, not great.
