Honey Tripel is similar to a Belgian monastery style tripel but with Massachusetts made honey instead of the more commonly used sugar. Sugar is used in this style to keep the body light and the finish dry. Honey does the same thing but adds some great aromatics. The hops stay in the background to let the honey and yeast-derived flavors come through. The barley and wheat malts are almost entirely Massachusetts made and most of the hops are Massachusetts grown. HoneyTripel is available in 22 oz bottles and on draft. ABV is 8.8%. IBUs are about 20. Color is golden. BTW - you can pronounce it however you want, but tripel sounds the same as "triple" when we say it.

Served in a goblet at the Union Brewhouse in Weymouth.

Appearance: A one finger head was poured that reduced to nothing quickly. It is a hazy pale yellow orange color with some vision of tiny bubbles coming up through the glass.

Smell: Vanilla, apple, pear, powdery yeast, honey, pilsner malts, pale malts, yeasty esters, and slight warm booze.

Taste: Definitely get the honey and vanilla up front with all other flavors in the rear. Tasty stuff and alcohol is deceiving too.

Mouthfeel: Sipping smooth, medium to full bodied, a little dry, some chewiness, and deceiving warm alcohol.

Overall: I feel the honey could have played a more key role in the beer whether through fermentation or conditioning, but I am pretty content to be enjoying this beer too. I feel this beer can be better with some age too.

I am stoked to pull out my old Pabst Blue Ribbon Chalice for this beer. Using that glass at 46 degrees. A frothy one-finger ivory head with dismal head retention. The quick head retention left no lacing on the glass. Charting the color around SRM 6 straw yellow with golden hues. The clarity is clear with some carbonation bubbles. I was expecting a dark yellow tripel. Overall the appearance is okay, with dismal head retention.
Nosing the beer, I smell cloves, bananas, bready, caramel, honey, floral, and a hint of band-aids. Aromas are muted for a tripel; I was expecting much more.
I taste is bready, cloves, bananas, caramel, honey, floral, toasted bread, white pepper, and a light pharmaceutical note.
The mouthfeel is somewhat astringent, finishing long and a bit unpleasant. The body is medium-plus and has medium carbonation.
I do not like this tripel. It lacks depth and balance. I love the honey used, but I wanted to feel like a true tripel. Thank you, Maynard!

16oz can served in a big snifter. Received in a random assault from @WunderLlama that was associated with NBS BIF #15.

Pours a clear golden-orange with a fairly small head, fairly still. Smell is lightly fruity in the banana direction, hay and grain. Strong yeasty vibe.

Taste is actually very similar to the aroma, maybe stronger on the grain note, and some honey clearly comes across here.

Mouthfeel is light and smooth -- surprisingly so. Overall, this is an interesting and good take on the tripel style.

No can date
Pours a light fizzy head with lower retention, little lacing, semi hazy light pale honey color

Nose is fairly sweet, sweet golden Belgian malt, little candi sugar, touch of caramelized sugar notes, blonde malt and sweet fruit, sweet dried golden fruits like dried apricot, citrus, little perfumey alcohol and spice notes, touch of vanilla and some sweet honey notes

Taste brings more sweet malt, belgian golden blonde malt with some more light Belgian candi sugar and caramelized sugar notes, light honey, a bit of vanilla icing, general sweet characters, touch of perfumey alcohol, light floral phenol spices, plenty of fruity esters as well, dried apricots, citrus, faint bubblegum notes, pome fruit, very light bitterness, touch of spicy bitterness late, more phenol spices and fruit lingering, dry bitter finish

Mouth is med to a bit fuller bod, a little warming alcohol, med lighter frothy carb

Overall decent tripel in general, honey is light, Belgian yeast and malt characters are nice but a little on the lighter side, still enjoyable

It is fine Belgian. I spent my honeymoon in Belgium, and this reminds of the best Trippels. Their tap room is closed now because of the virus but they sell it here.
Great mouth feel and good finish

This one was a bit of a letdown for me, as it was rough around the edges and a little hop forward for a trippel. It
poured a nice copper color with little if any head. It seemed to have more bitterness than usual for the style, and
lacked the smoothness the better trippels have.

This beer is best served at 50°F to bring out the honey, and more flavor. The warmer temp also
reduces the bitterness and the beer gets smoother with warming.

Poured a copper-red color with a 1/2 F head in an Orval Trappist glass.

Initially, the aroma was fruit, and licorice. With warming, the honey has a strong presence.

The mouth feel is very tart.

Excellent taste: fruit ,spice, and licorice finished with a good bitterness which mellows with warming.
The honey is much more pronounced with warming in both the taste and aroma.

Overall, an excellent tripel. This is a brewery to watch. Currently, its beers are only available in the South shore of MA. Worth checking out if you are in the area.
