I was excited to learn I'd moved in right down the street from this "craft beer bar" but the vibe is that of a random sports bar that happened to land in a prime location and find itself with some decent beers on tap. It's never too crowded, but the reveling regulars do cause a scene, as they likely couldn't tell light beer from bourbon by the time they get there. Inside it's dark and dank, making me wonder what critters are hiding in the walls. There's no beer list to peruse, probably because the usual clientele couldn't care less for one, but the selection is easy to see, as the rotating taps are clearly labeled...and there really aren't that many of them. Bean Post appears to feature one nearby brewery at a time, and while it's not completely uncommon for a beer enthusiast to try something new there, chances are if you're into east coast craft, you'll see a fairly familiar lineup, though it's generally tried and true. The prices are good and it's never too crowded, but the dark dank atmosphere makes you wonder what critters are hiding in the walls. I've yet to try the food, which is apparently a recent, yet extremely popular addition, but the selection looks huge, if a bit pricey (between $10 and $13 for a sandwich). Growlers are offered if you really must have more Union Jack, and there are a decent number of bottled beers available, although Ommegang Witte is about as interesting as it gets when it comes to this particular lineup. The service has a lazy, half-drunk, "Who am I, and how did I get here?" vibe to it more often than not, but sometimes the 'tenders ain't bad.

This place was a bit of a shocker for me. It looks like any of the countless dive bars in our neighborhood in Brooklyn: dark, not particularly clean and with a bunch of smokers standing out front.

Upon walking in, you find that they have tons of beers on tap. From just checking their website . . . the number is 28. This is the most of any bar in Bay Ridge. Great choices too.

And they fill growlers.

Their food is typical bar food, but with a bit more selection. The couple things I have had have been good.
