Not much of a head when you pour, but I think that's a personal preference. A nice darker beer, not so much brown as it is slightly copper in the right light. The Bourbon flavor is there as advertised with some caramel flavors. Strong presence of alcohol took me a bit by surprise when I took my first sip, I was slightly expected the alcohol presence to be a bit more hidden, but overall a nice barley wine.

Look: Pours brown and slightly cloudy which did not clear after warming.
Smell: It has aromas of sweet caramel, molasses, bourbon, and hints of floral hops.
Taste: It has aggressive alcohol flavors with bourbon, and hints of caramel.
Feel: It has a hot finish from the alcohol.
Overall: The bourbon flavor and alcohol dominate this and it was difficult to get any of the traditional barley wine flavors. The finish was hot instead of warming.

Had this a few nights back at the brewery taproom,a trial run of the new beer,I guess a bigger 12% version is coming as well.Poured a deep copper/bronze with a thinner head.Aromas were of sweet alcohol, dark fruit, and brown sugar.Deeply malty flavors with an alcohol burn, alot of dark fruit and deep cake-like notes. Not bad and true to an English version.
