Draft offering, the brew pours brown in color quite clouded with a tan cap that rests atop. Some stringy lace sticks to the glass and a swirl revives the suds.
The aroma is roasty with citrus hops and a bit of fruity/floral alcohol component. Overall a very clean, enjoyable smelling brew that fits the bill for the style.
The taste has some dusty roasted grain aspect and an earthen feel with mild bitterness. A bit restrained for a black ipa but it does have a hoppy resinous bitterness more into the aftertaste.
This is a medium bodied brew with a modest amount of carbonation. This beers restraint and lack of intensity is pretty much why I like it. Stylistically lacking compared to others in the style but overall not bad. I would drink this again.
