Bottled 05/06/14, 10% ABV. Hopped with Mosaic, Citra, Centennial & Columbus.

Appearance: Clear, polished copper body with a clinging white head.

Smell: Big fruity hops - stone fruit, tropical fruit. Floral notes. Fairly sweet as well, but not excessively - the malt accentuates the fruitier aspects of the hop profile without contributing much actual grain aroma. This is on the verge of being too malty, without crossing that line; instead the malt is complementary to the hops.

Palate: Juicy apricot, pineapple, mango; just all-around juicy. On the sweeter side, without much bitterness, yet the malt is reigned-in just enough that it doesn't come across as cloying. Medium-bodied, perhaps leaning toward full. It's an easy drinker for the heft. The substantial malt backbone does a great job of highlighting the fruitier aspect of the hop bill. Thankfully there's no grain character here, or astringency from the crystal malt.

Overall: My first beer from this new brewery, and I'm pretty impressed. Looking forward to trying more from them.

Uber fresh bottle. Pretty much everything I look for in a DIPA. Oranges, Tangerines, Apricots, being nice and juicy upfront with a drying finish. Great balance of citrus to Pine. Extremely well executed West Coast Double. The 9% is nowhere to be found. Dangerous beer. Very highly recommended.

No bottle date

Appearance - Pours clear and orange copper in color with an off-white, finger width head. Decent retention, resulting in a thin, consistent layer of suds and a solid ring around the edge of the glass. Great lacing, with broken sheeting and spotting found around the glass

Smell - Grapefruit and pine notes with candied orange sweetness, caramel and toasted malt.

Taste - Follows the nose. Orange and grapefruit hoppiness with lesser pine and spice. Malts hit strongly mid-taste with caramel and toasted breadiness. Finishes with pithy bitterness and lingering toastiness.

Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied with moderate carbonation. Slick texture makes this a super smooth drinker with a mostly dry finish.

Overall - Tasty brew. Very reminiscent of Alpine Pure Hoppiness. Maybe a bit too much, as the latter is a fairly unique DIPA offering....

Overall, an impressive double IPA. It's heavy on the juicy citrus but finishes dry and there's just a hint of booze. It doesn't hit as many stand-out high notes as the very best DIPAs, but it's expertly balanced and wonderfully drinkable (for a 9%er).

Nose is on point with this DIPA, all tropical fruit and such. The palate gets a bit sticky as it goes, with a surprising bitter/boozy punch as well. It's headed in the right direction, though, and I think, with a little fine tuning, could be a really strong beer. Knowing Bottle Logic, I imagine they'll continue to tinker.
