My clear winner at Week of Logic, and that’s some heavy competition!

Pour is extremely black, but a faint purple on the head reminds you what you’re in for.

The best part of this blueberry adjunct is that the sweetness wasn’t overdone, as is in most blueberry stouts.

Choo! Choo! This train delivers like the one that brought Claudia Cardinale to Sweet Water in Once Upon a Time in the West. No, really, Claudia shows up all buxom and pouring out, and that’s exactly what Paisley is (except that we aren’t talking about a drop dead gorgeous Italian actresses, we in turn are talking about an Imperial Stout made in in industrial park in Anaheim).

Cheers!

I was a bit nervous how it would turnout, because the initial taste of it at the 10th Bruery anniversary party was May 30th was basically a mess.

I'm happy to report, I was blown away!

Draft version was sweeter and more berry forward.

Bottle version - less berry , more barrel, less sweeter - more balanced.

I thought I preferred it on draft, but after trying it on draft again I would go with the bottle .

Hands down, the best offering of the year for Bottle Logic!

Inky black with a tall but airy burnt mocha foam settling to a thin chain and that's it

Smell is intensely syrupy, sticky bourbon and charred, smoky oak up front--it's a bit peppery with accents of maple and caramel. Then a very unique spike of peppy, spritzy bright blueberry, the likes of which I don't think I've experienced in a beer, pops like fresh pie filling.

Taste is bringing unbelievably, unmistakably pinpoint memories of blueberry pancakes. It's total blueberry pie filling, bright and fruity and playfully enjoyable, and yet it slides right into the rest of the overall experience. I shouldn't be surprised though, because Jam the Radar was tasty and did not wreak of cloying artificiality either, and this is a big improvement. The barrel really shines here too without being hot or overpowering, bringing coconut syrup, vanilla ribbons of whiskey, and a slight peppery bite. The stout itself doesn't contribute a whole lot, and neither does the cacao until it warms, although it does bloom with time. It seems like a playful beer at first sip, but is quite a mature, enjoyable experience.

The feel is quite thin, with a crackly sort of fizz, and a paper dry finish.

Boy this review got big, whoops. It's a surprisingly complex experience for a pastry stout. The barrel is really well implemented and the added flavors don't overpower at all.

L: Dark brown near black. A finger of a dense brown head. Loads of residual lacing. Really nice viscosity given the ABV, which isn't unusual for BL.
S: Chocolate and malts is dominant, with the blueberry fruit tartness trailing close in second place. Really smells great. Warm presence from the bourbon with subtle sugar sweetness.
T: Tastes like chocolate covered blueberries. Can't put it any other way. Bitter sweet chocolate and fruity tart blueberries really work well together. Marshmallow flavor on the finish and in after taste. Warmness from the bourbon that has a nice presence but isn't boozy by any means.
F: Full bodied with nice weight. Carbonation seems a little too high, but could be the local tap system. Otherwise, very enjoyable.
O: glad I tried. Super smooth for the abv. I would drink again and am grateful to have tried. Cheers!

Appearance: poured pitch black with thick viscosity and a beige head.

Smell: immediately fragrant and earthy blueberries to the nose intermingled with the bourbon, almost like some kind of after dinner blueberry liqueur with coating of chocolate and vanilla. Very decadent, rich and sweet.

Taste: again with the heavy blueberries! Mildly jammy and earthy with no tartness. It comes in so smooth and sweet. Blueberries are encompassed by the the warmth of bourbon and the vanilla (marshmallows?) sweetness. All in all, this is a liquid desert. As it warms, the flavors intensify with the bourbon and blueberries shining through like the lights of heaven.

Mouthfeel: slight alcoholic warmth, thick and heavy in the mouth.

Overall: Blueberries were the ultimate showcase of this barrel aged stout, an outstanding beer.

Poured from a bomber into a BL Paisley Cave Complex tulip glass. Thanks Daniel for hooking me up with this beer.

Pours a deep brown body with a slow rising, fluffy, frothy dark brown head that sticks around to reduce to chunky retention that eventually develops to a ring of foam.

On the nose, tons of blueberry. Chocolate covered blueberries dipped in bourbon, marshmallow, blueberry pop-tarts. Nose is dominated by berry aromas.

On the tongue it's sweet but not overly, with chocolately blueberry muffins, hershey's milk chocolate, light bourbon-vanilla follow through, a bit boozy on the finish with a cocoa-blueberry pancake finish. Mouthfeel is nice and thick with low carbonation.

Quite a delicious beer, definitely a dessert beer / sipper. Tons of berries in this.

500ml bottle, snifter glass. Dark black body, half finger offwhite head. Smell is massive blueberry fruit, without the tartness of the fruit; light sweet marshmallow vanilla, milk chocolate, cocoa powder- like a blueberry Swiss Miss. Cocoa, chocolate and marshmallow with a big blueberry tinge to it. Flavour follows; the blueberry gets to be more and more forward as time goes on yet without an overpowering tartness or cloying sweetness to it. It's really packing the blueberry but just well enough to meld with the base stout beer. Wonderful stuff. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, solid carbonation, smooth, chocolate covered blueberries on the backend, with a bit of additional vanilla sweetness. Really nice stuff.
