Notes:
Astronautica Exotica is an imperial coconut stout brewed with coconut and aged in Caribbean rum barrels before meeting waves of finishing coconut, soft sunsets of orange zest and the perfect pop of earthy nutmeg garnish.
Nostalgia-tinged dreams for forbidden islands and the endless allure of exploration lead us to the flavors of this classic ode to escapism. Warm sand, turquoise water, and tropical breezes are just a sip away in this Painkiller cocktail-inspired rum barrel-aged stout.

Not bad. Definitely has a rum burn to it. Taste is citrusy and spicy with slight coconut on the backend. You can notice all the other stout elements more pronounced than the adjuncts. Molasses, coffee, chocolate, with some slight herbal elements noticeable. Overall this is complex and you might enjoy it, I personally didn’t care for it.

Tropical ipa or sour, ok great, but a stout? Let's see how this goes! Pitch black pour with a brown collar. Smell has big rum aromas with orange juice, coconut and trace amounts of roasted malt. It shouldn't work but it somehow does. This was less true in the taste, rum booze is very hot upfront with the orange and coconut. When tasting with the wife I said nutmeg and she thought I was crazy but turns out I was right baby! Anywho, ends with the "stout flavorings" you would expect from the maltwork, molasses too. Feel is hot with booze, otherwise smooth, viscous and malty. I understand rum needs to be prominent to bridge the gap of stout and tropical drink, but I can't help but come back to the heat. It is so weird and honestly the vision is pulled off enough to be interesting, but don't need to have again

I am sitting in my backyard, it is warm for October, 91 degrees (33 Celsius), and I am drinking this Imperial Stout from Bottle Logic, Astronautica Exotica (cool name), aged in Rum Barrels and finished with coconut, orange zest and nutmeg, ABV 14.08%. The flavor is roasted malts, rum, significant rum, coconut and nutmeg, some chocolate. The orange zest might be coming off a bit wrong, like the orange flavor they give me while cleaning my teeth at the dentist. Points off for that, but otherwise I think it is a great stout, tasty and it hides the alcohol well. Dangerous!
Look: pitch black with a thin mocca colored head
Aroma: roasted malts, rum, coconut
Taste: roasted malts, rum, significant rum, coconut and nutmeg, some chocolate, a orange-toothpasty off flavor
Overall: full body, overall pretty good

Black, not much foam.
Coconut, chocolate.
So many BL stouts have this toothpastey thing going on, same with this one. Very rum-y, coconut but chocolate doesn't hit me.
Seems dense enough but that minty thing is a put off.

A dark mocha head fizzles out to a burnt, oily black hole with a fuzzy central ring.
On the nose is candied orange with chocolate drizzle and silver rum.
Taste adds the nutmeg right away, and that leaves me torn, as I normally hate the stuff--but hey, I traded for this because it sounded interesting so I want to give it a chance. The body is silky but medium with a fine crisp fizz that kicks up additional charred brownie like oak, caramel, hot numbing rum, and creamy coconut whip.
It really does taste like a painkiller cocktail, for good or ill, but I have to give Bottle Logic credit for swinging in the first place--it even has a bitters flavor to it. But at the same time, there's a medicinal quality that at times is like cherry cough syrup. In general, the botanical orange flavor takes over in the long run, and in combination with the sharp and overbearing booze, it becomes difficult to drink.

Very dark appearance with slight tan head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is a very prominent rum with a touch of coconut. Taste is also a very pleasant and prominent rum with coconut.
