It has a nice color to it like an transparent caramel, but it had a rather pitiful head, I even tried to force it a bit and still nothing.

It is rather clean smelling, but I am not getting a hole lot out of this. Its got some nice hop characteristics with a hint of orange.

The taste is rather good. Behind a pleasant bitterness, it hast a nice fruity character to it like grapes and apples. But it has a good deal of grains in it too, and the over all effect is quite like a fruity bread.

The mouth feel is not bad and the finish is decently long lasting.

In terms of drink ability I am uncertain so I am going to stick with a little above average. Its easy to drink and its nice and flavorful, but I do not know if I could drink one after another with this beer.

Better on tap, than bottle. Orange/golden color. A bit on the bitter side. Nothing special with this one. Dry finish. Hints of floral, citrus, pine and maybe clove. Kind of a boring beer.

Well I tried this on tap around 5 mos ago and thought I would try the bottled version.Pours a medium gold color with a light head, aroma is hop-grassy with a light malty sweet tone. The taste is a little more malty wich I like but still missing something that I cant put my finger on,its gotta decent sweet malty bas with some hop bitterness in the finish.I like it a little better a second time but there are much better pales out there.

Appearance – The head on this beer was unbelievable. It shot up my Ruination glass like a volcano. At one point I had 80% foam in the glass, and I poured this gently. It left some nice lacing as well. The body was a hoppy-looking, cloudy orange.

Smell – Oh, this is citrus hop city. There’s a small malt backbone to this one, but mostly it’s the citrus hops that seem to have a little spicing. NJ pale ale meets BSPA?

Taste – This did have some Belgian Strong Pale Ale characteristics. It’s definitely spiced with a nice malty backbone. Coriander for sure in this one. The citrus hops dominate though, making this one a big Pale Ale without question.

Mouthfeel – Big and fluffy, again like a good BSPA. This is only probably medium in the body but the huge, live, quality carbonation fills the cheeks. This is not the cheap, fizzy carbonation you get with a lot of American ales. This is full and fluffy, tickling the cheeks and tongue.

Drinkability – Don’t buy this if you’re looking for a flat Pale Ale or an American IPA “light.” But, if you love Belgian Pales as I do and want an American alternative, I haven’t found a closer match yet.

Comments – I got this bottle in the annual Holiday Swap coordinated by xlperro this year. I was fortunate enough to draw jcalbi as a partner, and this is one of the better beers I’ve had this holiday season. Good tidings and cheers!

Really nice looking golden-bronze thing going on here, but no real head to speak of.

Seems to smell more of malt than any kind of hops.

Pretty flavorful, actually, but again, I really pick up more malt than any outstanding hop character.

Mouthfeel is rather full and satisfying.

This is an above average pale ale, but in the end, its just another beer that I'm happy to have had the opportunity to try, and that I will probably never have again. On to something else...

Caramelly golden color with a slight creamy heady. Scents of apple juice.

Smooth flavors that are blended so nicely. Crisp, fresh apples and a teensy bit of hoppiness in the background. Very light carbination.

Good and fresh tasting. This is a nice, easy drinker!

This was from a sampler case from FF. Expiration date clearly marked on the case!! Yea!!

Pours a clear gold with a 1/2 finger head of just off-white bubbles. drops to a ring in no time. Carbonation evident. Just a sniff of lace on the glass.

Aromas are faint in this one. Some slight bready/grainy malts, slight herbal hops. That's about it.

Tastes like it smells. Faint. Too faint, IMO. It's more like a golden ale. Slight taste of grainy pale malt, bittering to match, and just a hint of herbal spicy hops. A good training wheel beer.

Mouthfeel is a little thin for a pale ale. Sweet, touch of carbonation bite, sweet finish.

This would be a good Golden Ale, but as an APA it's not quite up to snuff. Not near enough hop character. This would be good to get your friends off BMC.

Appearance: Golden amber hue completely filtered letting much light pass through with a nice big white foam head after and up and down pour. Aroma: Slightly herbal low fruit profile with some spicing attached just slightly biscuit pale malts swarm the aromatics with a touch of the hops coming through. Taste: Very much biscuit malt sweetness with low bitterness comes of a bit doughy with a rolling trace of ripened fruit not bad a bit lackluster thourgh. Mouthfeel: Light medium bodied an easy drinking spiced pale with some Belgian yeast usage going on carbonation is a bit rough but it all goes down quite smoothly. Drinkability: Not a bad pale just doesn't represent the great beer producing country of Belgium very well it's sessionable in some regards but the biscuit malts and spice may wear on me after a few.

12 oz bottle with a imprinted best by date of 10 Dec. 2013, served in a snifter.
Clear light amber body.
A light APA, with a relatively (i.e., for style) light body, light aroma, and light flavor.
More hoppy than maltly, with a slightly bitter and quite mild grapefruit rind aftertaste.
Good medium+ carbonation with a dry, mildly bitter finish.
Improved more than expected with some warming.

(Served in an American pint glass)
A- The creamy orange body has an antique white head that is supported by gentle strands of tiny bubbles. The head last as a thin wispy film.
S- The soft field corn aroma blends with a soft green hops note. As the beer warms the field corn note turns into a soft caramel malt and honey malt aroma.
T- The soft pale malt has a green hop bitter bite in the finish. The soft caramel malt comes through in the dry finish as the beer opens up.
M- The medium mouthfeel has a fizzy cleaning finish.
D- The caramel malt is nice but still very soft and the fizz scrubs away the hops and the malt flavor. There are no off flavors just a little syrupy even though it is very soft flavors.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle.

A-Golden yellow-copper with a thin head that fades fairly rapidly.

S-American adjunct grains...mostly....where's the hops?

T-Where's my lawnmower...must have left it somewhere...damn...did I misplace that bottle of Bud? Come on guys...what is going on here? Slightly nutty, a bit malty, and very grainy. Ice 'em up and suck 'em down. Nothing else to report here. In fairness...this is not really bad...then again, it is totally unremarkable.

M-Light...nuff said.

D-Sure, I could probably drink quite a few of these and enjoy them just fine working in the heat around the house, but's thats the job for Yeungling at about half the price, and frankly its better.

I really want to support my local craft brewers, and I've heard great things about the exit series, but this is the first FF beer that I have tried, and I am sorely let down.

DATE TASTED: May 4, 2014... GLASSWARE: Howard's Pub pint... OCCASION: toilet--replaced; lawn--cut; bathroom--painted = beer time!... APPEARANCE: creamy white head that attractively flairs; dark golden straw-colored, evenly effervescent body; drains evenly... AROMA: vibrant citric (mostly orange with some melon and pear as well) and floral notes with some light caramel malts--accessible and intriguing... PALATE: soft, lagerish body,, equally creamy and thinly taut--sessionable and perfectly at home...TASTE: Flying Fish continues to leave me a happy consumer, as this pale ale a strong profile fits within the genre well and yet is memorable enough to e sought again--maybe not at the bottle shop, but in a restaurant or bar...

Flying Fish- Extra Pale Ale

Appearance- hazy yellow with a moderate thick soapy white head.
Smell- Very light grassy musty hay. Light malt.
Taste- Musty hay/ straw with malt and an earthy hop flavor.
Mouthfeel- Light basically watery. little flavor. Slighty sweet but not much else going on.

Overall- Once again this is a huge disappointment. Very weak very watery. Not horrible but bland and boring. Avoid!
