12 oz bottle into pint glass

Old school IPA, burnt yellow color. Thin white head
Very little smell, more malty than hops
Classic IPA taste, piney, resin-y, a tad sweet malts to hold up to the hops
Full mouthfeel and slightly cloying
A refreshing return to the classic filtered IPA

A - A golden orange body...the head was white and stood about a finger and a half...lacing was okay

S - A surprising citrus hop nose with some caramel sweetness in the back

T - The malts come in and dominate the flavor...the malts present the caramel flavor...but also present is a buttery biscuit flavor as well...the two pair nicely...the hops are pretty subdued in the taste...they make an appearance at the end but it's not a bitter aftertaste...rather it's a grapefruit sweetness

M - Medium bodied...actively carbonated...lacked the bitterness...but crisp

D - After having the Extra Pale Ale I was rather surprised with this IPA...almost boarders on being an English IPA as the hops are pretty mellow...granted there are some better IPA's out there...but this one is worth a try

a - Crystal clear amber body. One finger foamy white head.

s - Sweet and piney. Pretty inviting, borderline between a big APA and a weak IPA

t - Similar to the smell, this brew is on the sweet side with west coast style hop flavor that is piney and spicy with classic citrus towards the end. Not bitter but lots of hop flavor nudge this brew into the IPA category along with the ABV, but otherwise you might not notice.

m/d - A bit sticky yet thin body. I think they either need to up the bittering hops or bring down some of the sweetness to get it right for the style. Easy to drink and price right locally.

Almost amber in color. Dark orange.
Smell of brown sugar, citrus pine.
Sweet. Brown sugar. Pine. Orange
Smooth low carbonation. Silky.

Easy to drink but it's just ok.

Poured into a Samuel Adams Perfect Pint glass from a bottle.

The color is a nice brownish/amber with a finger or so of head that turns into a ring around the glass. Good amount of carbonation.

Aroma is maltiness and hops, quite nice. Lots of different citrus or tart fruit notes, grapefruit and maybe a bit of apricot being the ones I seem to notice. The nose is a bit tight though.

Flavor is excellent, nice maltiness followed by a nice bathing of hops, with a noticeablely sweet grapefruit finish.

Mouthfeel is quite nice, has good velvety texture to it, with some obvious oiliness from the hops.

An odd thing I tend to notice in beers and I notice in this one is that it burps quite well. Very tasty on the burp front, this gains extra points for drinkability.

This is certainly not the most complex IPA but it is very drinkable and enjoyable.

Overall, this is a highly drinkable brew, I could consume many of these and be very happy. An above average IPA that I recommend as a good session brew when your not looking for something to "ruin" (I'm looking at you Stone) your taste buds.

P.S.: Stone Ruination is great just packs a real wallop and may not be the most sessionable brew, but there are different beers for different occassions.

Pours a almost clear burnt orange color with a tight half finger head. This beer leaves rings of lace on the glass. The aroma is of citrus notes along with a herbal smell and a touch of dark fruit sweetness. The taste follows suit with a citrus and herbal flavor up front. This gives way to a dark fruit sweetness and then a very slight earthy bite. The mouthfeel is low to moderatly carbonated. Overall it is not bad. A nice blend of hops and malt, enjoyable but not great.

Appearance - Pours a fairly clear golden orange with an off-white finger width head. Fair retention leads it a broken layer of suds across the surface. Lacing is spotty, with decent stick.

Smell - Earthy and floral hop aroma, along with a bready malt sweetness. Fruity esters. Hints of sourness.

Taste - Follows the nose. Citrus and floral hops upfront, along with some woodiness and a generic bready backbone. Well balanced. Fruity esters lend to a faint sourness near the finish. Hops touch on grassy bitterness in the aftertaste.

Mouthfeel - Medium in body with fair to lively carbonation. Near velvety smoothness, and goes down with ease before a dry finish.

Overall - A solid English IPA. The sourness is a bit odd, but not unpleasant. I could stand to drink a few more, but nothing I'd want to drink on a regular basis.
