This refreshing session IPA starts with a base Pilsner and Vienna Malt and then showcases the multiple additions of Warrior, Azacca and Citra hops, yielding tropical aromatics with hints of mango and grapefruit. Low in alcohol, BIG in flavor.

A: pours a light, straw yellow body with a pretty thick white head with decent retention and lacing.
S: sweet, pungent Açaí smell that is pretty powerful
T: sweet, acai taste with a very subtle earthiness in the aftertaste
M: very light but crisp; also a little thin.
O: for the style, it’s a pretty good tasting beer. The mouthfeel combined with the sweet Açaí taste reminds me more fo a spiked seltzer, but it’s not unwelcome. Not too bad.

Pours a big foamy head and a cloudy gold color. Very refreshing with lots of flavor but not overly hoppy. I would buy this again.

We had a recent tasting at The FGBS with the local Flying Fish rep, who coincidentally lives only a block or so from my Mom-Za's house here in Lancaster, PA. At the end of the event, I was asked if I would like any of the leftovers for takeaway. A check of this site showed that I had not reviewed this beer, although my local, in-person trade, tone77, had! This represented an egregious error on the part of The CANQuest (tm) & so I snatched one up for review & rating.

From the CAN: " This refreshing session IPA starts with a base Pilsner and Vienna Malt and then showcases the multiple additions of Warrior, Azacca and Citra hops, yielding tropical aromatics with hints of mango and grapefruit."

I was so anxious to Crack! the vent that once it was opened, I went with an inverted Glug since I knew that this was an extremely fresh CAN. Boy, did the foam ever come boiling up! I was momentarily frightened, but then it formed a dense cap of two-plus fingers of foamy, rocky, bone-white head with great retention that slowly fell back, leaving sticky lacing in its wake. Color was Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7) with NE-quality clarity, calling forth The Gelt Gang of Midas, Mammon & Croesus for a taste. Nose definitely smelled of Azacca and Citra with loads of bitter grapefruit offset by sweet mango. Mmm. Mouthfeel was medium, about on par for the style. The taste maintained a greater bitterness than I usually get in these Session AIPAs, but it was not as intense as on the nose. Instead, the sweet tropical fruitiness seemed to have a greater presence and while it was okay, that is not in keeping with the style's hallmark bitterness. Session AIPAs need to be their own separate style, IMHO. Finish was dry and refreshing, but I felt unfulfilled. Still as a Summer seasonal beer, it would definitely have a place in my cooler when headed to the beach. YMMV.
