XPA Citra Pale AleXPA Citra Pale Ale
Notes: Extra Pale Ale, simply known as “XPA,” was our original beer. It’s quenched the thirst of many along their journey. Like a change of scenery, this updated version is citrus forward and begins a new chapter for XPA.

Malts: Superior Pilsen, Munich, Oats, Wheat, Honey Malt, Vienna Malt
Hops: Warrior, Palisade, Citra, El Dorado
Yeast: Chico Ale
Original Gravity: 12.5 Plato
IBU's: 27

Food pairings: Perfect with all foods, spicy, fish, fowl, grilled, pub grub, just not a dessert beer.

12 oz bottle
Best by 8/28/19
Tasted 7/24/19

Chill haze golden, thick white head with great lacing
Smells of apricots and citrus, some breadiness
mild, thin taste. lacks the hop boldness of an American Pale Ale, even the malt is subdued
thin mouthfeel, decent carbonation
A little let down by this one, though a decent Summer ale

8/26/19....cloudy copper, lighter hued with remnants of white foam. Very faint citrus lemon nose with malted backbone. Chewy lemon flavor with slight bitter. Quite creamy. Bitter pops up further down the journey.

Deep gold pour with very good clarity; fluffy white head; excellent cap retention; lots of soapy lacing with heavy ring. Bright lemongrass nose. Lite bitter lemon peel and grapefruit. Medium lite body, moderate carbonation; a touch of astringency, hop burn on tongue. Overall a clean light very drinkable IPA with a nice lite bitter citrus linger.

12 ounce can in a tulip. Well inside the freshness date.

Hazed golden orange color with 1-plus F of solid white froth. There are a healthy film of retention and lots of lacing.

Citrus, stone, and tropical fruit aromas. Citrus rind and lightly sweet malt.

Lots of citrus hop flavor, fruity. Just a touch sweet malt from the honey.

Drinkable is the feel. Medium body, slightly juiced, touch of malt sweetness. Clean hop finish.

A nice hop fix at 27 IBU. Flavorful and drinkable. Delivers as advertised.

This isn’t bad it’s just passé in a world of super juicy stuff here in the NE. Citrus nose. Flavor, citrus. Did I mention citrus. Pretty well carbonated.

Can from Tavour
Slightly hazy light golden in color with a good sized rocky white head that persists. Citrus and pine with bits of tropical fruit and a faint sweet bready malt underneath.
