12 oz bottle into a tulip glass.

Pours a fairly clear copper but I do see a few floaters here and there, topped with a near finger of slightly off-white colored head. This retains with a tight ½ finger, which leaves back a big foamy cascade of lacing. The aroma smells floral and leafy with some light pine notes and then more of a ripe and herbal feeling citrus component. A touch of spicy pepper is present as well. Sweet doughy grains work with the citrus along the back.

The taste has an earthy and gritty bitterness to it, with some pine thrown in and is surrounded on the sides by some ripe and herbal citrus character. A backbone of caramel and sweet grains mixes in with that green citrus flavor from behind to give the flavor profile a deep twang. This is dry, earthy and bitter on the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and crisp on the tongue with a firm yet still slick and creamy feel along the back. A touch of alcohol hangs on the finish a bit.

This was decent. I usually prefer my hoppy Amber Ales to be more in the West Coast style but this one still brought some different things to the table and at least had a nice fresh drinkability to it for 7%. Not sure if I’d actually go for an entire six-pack of this but I was happy with this bottle.

This was poured into a nonic pint glass. The appearance was a dark red color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated at a nice pace. Messy lace. The aroma starts with some nuts and malts. Then some citrus and piney hops contact the rest of the aromatics nicely. The flavor leans sweet through a blend of the previously mentioned aromas. Rugged malty aftertaste with the same sort of finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonated fine, it moves pretty well across my tongue. Overall, decent amber ale that I could come back to.

BBD 7/11/15. Pours a clear amber with a solid garnet cast. Outstanding head volume, world class lacing and retention.

Somewhat light nose of toasted malt and hops (pine and grapefruit).

Heavy light body with a smooth texture. Superb carbonation with a nice effervescent burst in the middle and a solid finely bubbled prickly finished.

Outstanding flavor profile. It is intense, fairly complex, and very well balanced. It's base is a solid biscuit with heavy caramel notes that are somewhat toasted. Over this is a mild bitterness which has hop flavor elements of pine, grapefruit and an herbal spicy character. The finish is a slow fade of hop flavor that becomes more spicy as it lingers.

Poured into a standard pint glass a full deep amber with a half finger white head that had good retention.Hops are a little subded in the nose with citric notes present,a caramel/biscuit maltiness was there as well.I really like the full creamy mouthfeel,it's full and mellow so it goes down very well.Hops are not as big as I was hoping but their presence is there, grapefruit rind sticks out mainly on the hop side of things with a sweetish caramel toffee malt base that stands right up to the hops. The feel is great and it does have decent hops,it's just not a big hopped up left coast-style amber.

Amber in color with a quarter inch of off creamy off white on top. I smell amber malt and grassy, earthy hops. I taste amber malt and earthy, bitter hops. The mouth is creamy, dry, and smooth.

12 oz bottle, "best by" New Year's Eve 2013, served in a lager glass.

Pulling this from the refrigerator, I'm not too excited to have selected a red ale. But wait, it says "West Coast hoppy style red ale" on the label, and releases a fine hoppy aroma upon uncapping, and looks great in the glass, due in part to the creamy and durable tan head. Well, the flavor and feel do not disappoint either. Crisp but soft carbonation in a medium bodied ale. Good, moderately complex mix of hops over a solid malt base. Mildly bitter aftertaste.

O: a really fine smelling, hoppy red ale. Worth seeking out.

A - Clear Red to amber, good head stays at the top, thin lacing. Appealing.

S - Smells like a classic red, cant complain (i suck at picking at the notes of scents)

T - Tastes like a classic red, again I like red, so boon!

M - Smooth, drinkable (i usually hate this word sadly), not highly carbonated, good feel.

O - Cant complain. It does not wow me, but I do not feel slighted by this beer. It's light hoppy character makes me feel like I can recommend this beer as an everyday beer for someone who does not like the full bitter and hoppyness of IPAs.

DATE: June 6, 2015... GLASSWARE: Brew at the Zoo pint... OCCASION: Catching up with Game of Thrones... APPEARANCE: Translucent copper/amber body and a white, cloudlike trail of lacing; almost no effervescence...AROMA: pleasant maltiness and a spike of flowery hops--some citrus and orange as well; mellow and appealing... PALATE: medium-bodied and smooth, with little life but reasonably creamy finish... TASTE: caramel malts take center stage, owning a throaty, metallic dominance; buttery, nutty qualities surface late; some hop crunch balances the experience; a good balance is struck... OVERALL: with grapefruit, a slightly nuanced approach to an amber, with a demonstrative 7% ABV to boot....worthy of a pairing with a night with the epic power of Westeros...

Solid beer all the way around. Dark copper color, some citrus, spices, and a tiny bit bready. Nice dry tart aftertaste with some hops and malt. Very drinkable.
