Tasty, but the bitterness kind of hangs out there and could use some sweetness to balance it out. Mango and grapefruit. A little thin tasting. Smells more interesting than it tastes. If you combined this with Alter Ego (which I would prefer to be more crisp / fresh) you'd have a hell of a mango beer.

Drank within a week of it being canned; this is extremely fresh.

Look: Very similar to orange juice; pours a thick, completely opaque, deep yellow/orange with a dense, one and a half finger head of foam. Head retention is below average; leaves no lacing.

Aroma: Slightly spicy pine needles and bitter grapefruit peel. Sweet and slightly tart aroma of tangerines and pineapple. A little bit of herbal lemon verbena - even some notes of honey and granola.

Taste: Wow... finback never ceases to impress me. Very very complex. Upfront there is a gentle, bitter contrast of lemon verbena and spruce; it goes hand in hand with juicy, but not overtly saccharine flavors of tropical guava, orange and baked, brown sugar glazed pineapple. Softly and gently transitions into velvety flavors of honey drizzled over granola, before petering out into mellow flavors of papaya and tangerine. Delicate notes of condensed cream on the very back end.

Feel: Moderately carbonated. Mid/heavy body (a 7 on a scale of 10 in terms of weight). Very supple and extremely creamy, but still with enough effervescence to prevent it from being flat or insipid. 6.2%abv is undetectable.

Overall: As I said; I'm always impressed by finback. This beer is no exception. I like the weight on this and how the flavor develops very slowly over the course of every sip. Very happy I tried this.

I mean, it’s fine. I suppose. But so was Donald Duck orange juice when Raul was a little tyke. Yeah, straight up - did a brewery make this beer, or Walt Disney? Cuz I feel like after drinking it I should hit a Slip ‘n’ Slide. Where are the real beers at?

See ya.

T: Mirrors the smell. There was a faint pine flavor.. turning back to mango.
F: Full.. smooth. Light carbonation or bitterness. A good bit of juiciness throughout.
O: I'll have another!

new england style ipa brewed with mango, and a very tasty beer from these guys, the first hoppy one with fruit from them that i can recall having. its got just a little frosted orange color to it but remains hazy and pale, high white head rising from the tap, and a really great aroma where the mango is at least as forward as all the hops, but at the same time natural to me, not forced, and not too sweet, really summery and juicy and sexy. the mango flavor is very bold in this, like biting a ripe fresh one, its naturalness but also forwardness both impress me. this is a tough fruit, usually sweet and syrupy in beer, or else lost entirely to all the other fruit it always seems to be married to in beers like pineapple and passion fruit, but here it stands tall and and stands on its own, just delicious with the citrusy hops, some nice bitterness here too to help this finish. the grain base seems simple and dry, cerealy and just substantial enough, while the hops and mango last the whole drink right through the swallow. a cool back and forth of fruit and fruity hops, los of nuance here, but the natural mango makes this memorable for me. good carbonation, medium body, and a cool balance. overall delicious beer, i could see this working really well with guava or lychee too, two other fruits often overrun by more robust fruit, should they chose to make a series out of this...

Dated 4/27/18 on the bottom of the can, just under 3 weeks old.

Pours a nearly opaque lighter orange in the glass with almost no head, maybe a third of a finger that dissipated quickly. Nose starts off with a strong over-ripened mango that steals the show and follows with yellow grapefruit pith, pine bark, candied lemon, lime peel, a hint of floral and a mulberry-esque malt. Everything but the mango, grapefruit and pine, I had to really pull out of the aroma. It's there but the mango overrides it. Taste also puts the mango in charge but brings in much more hefty than expected mulberry-esque woody malt. The rest just kind of, just fades away. Medium-light body, it's a little bit underwhelming for a 6.2% ABV, but no alcohol notes. Medium sweetness and low biterness/dryness in this one. This was a weird one for me, it's almost as if it's several months old, but it's not. It's only 3 weeks in the can but I can tell this fruited IPA faded a lot faster than I expected. If I were able to get my hands on one of these the week it was brewed, I may have come to a different conclusion.

16oz can dated 9/1/17.

Pours cloudy yellow with a short-lived head and minimal retention. Ripe tropical fruit in the nose. Mango, orange, peach, and grapefruit. Medium bodied with a soft, creamy mouthfeel, Grapefruit pith with citrus zest on the palate. Zero malt with a balancing bitterness. Finishes dry with lingering tropical fruit and zest.

Tasty beer and certainly fairly juicy but could use more Mango and hops.

L - Beautiful light orange color with milkshake body and two fingers of white head

S - Mango, orange juice, pulp, and dankness

T - Distinct bitter character and subtle mango. Lots of spice: basil, mint, green tea, more bitterness on the end

F - Not as full as I'd like, but still fine. Easily drinkable despite the bitterness and spice.

O - Another solid IPA out of the Northeast.
