This was yet another beer from Finback that I traded for a while ago, as it had a date of 1/11 on the bottom of the can with "RUSSIA" written below it. I'm not sure if that's a Trump reference but I am sure that this beer carried the traits of the Lemondrop and Simcoe that was written on the label as there was quite a sweetness and mild dankness to this beer that nearly gave it a dessert-type mouthfeel.

Not a bad pour to this as the beer was golden, pretty radiant, and topped off with a nice amount of standard-looking bubbly head. The nose wasn't terribly strong but had enough Simcoe, sugary Lemondrop, and orange cream in it to draw me in. The taste was even more sweet as creamsicle, vanilla cream, and peach all came into the fray, with hints of apricot and dank pineapple in the mix for added depth. A grassy mouthfeel tied everything in but I wasn't sure what this beer was aiming for. Not a lot of carbonation was present as I had a chance to let this linger on my palate, but the end result was that this seemed just a bit unfocused, though still relatively easy to quaff.

There was enough alcohol here but you wouldn't know it based on the the impression this gave off. The aftertaste was that of melon pith and rind, which differed quite a bit from the first take that I got during my initial sips. Most "Russian" beers tend to be dark and heavy and this wasn't either of those. Maybe this was a sign that things have changed, but not necessarily for the better. Need a bit more introspection on this before coming up with a better conclusion though like a good Russian Imperial Stout, this would make for a good choice for dessert!

Yum. Dank. Clean. Floral. Lime, mango, pineapple and hints of lemon zest. Perfect level of sweetness. Really solid. Probably the best Finback beer I've had.
