Can. Finback...keep buying them. Rarely enjoy them. Sounds like a me problem. Pours like a textbook New England IPA. Aroma is pretty muted. I actually do get a little watermelon in the nose. Flavor is definitely watermelon. Tastes like watermelon salad. Actually, this is surprisingly pretty good. It works. Hop and watermelon. One of the better Finbacks.

i dont often like fruited ipa, and i almost never like watermelon beer, so this one was a real surprise to me, a totally drinkable, rightly restrained, and quenching hoppy beer with the right amount of watermelon in it, i thought they nailed this, way ahead of expectations even though i know everything from finback is high quality. they did a great job on something very difficult i think here. the look and the apparent hop profile in the nose are not dissimilar to a lot of other finback beers we had in this session, decidedly new school, mostly dry hopped, and at least one of citra, mosaic, or amarillo i have to think, if not all three of them together. juicy and bright, not too heavy on the grain side but with enough body for sure. the twist here is the watermelon, and how compatible it is with the hops, unexpected. the watermelon is ripe and natural and in the background, sweet and fleshy, but like its been juiced and more or less fermented out, its not overpowering, and it doesnt linger longer than the hops on the swallow, which is my usual criticism of this sort of thing. so drinkable, a taste of summer in the wintertime, and still an ipa first. the watermelon is so true. yum!
