Drank from a 1 pint (16 fl. oz.) can purchased at Julio’s Liquors, Westboro, MA
07/17/19
Served in a teku
The beer poured a cloudy, glowing lemon yellow hue. A small cap of tight, creamy, bright white foam topped the liquid, but it quickly fell to a thin collar. Dots of lacing trickled down the sides of the glass.
The aroma was fruity and pleasant. Juicy orange notes dominated. Orange sherbet came to mind. Really crisp and lemony too. Pineapple was also noticeable. Nice wheaty tartness as well. As the beer warmed, a hint of dankness from the Mosaic hops were detectable. Later, white grapefruit notes appeared.
The flavor was solid and quite similar to the nose. Really citrusy and bright with big orange and tangerine notes. Lemon came through in the center, along with some pineapple. Some wheaty tartness as well. Grapefruit appeared on the back end and the finish. More tangerine and tangerine rind too. The beer finished slightly pithy and bitter with a touch of lingering “hop burn.”
Nice creamy, frothy mouthfeel. Medium bodied for the style. The liquid contained a moderate, somewhat prickly effervescence that turned creamy, slick and smooth on the palate.
With so many breweries today making triple, quadruple, milkshake, etc. IPAs, Finback Brewing have been building their reputation with clean, focused and often understated hoppy beers. Although the mosaic hops were hardly noticeable in this, it was enjoyable regardless and highly crushable.

Poured into a glass from a can, 17 days after canning. Beers is very hazy bright straw. It's almost banana colored. Not much of a head; some faint lacing. Aroma is powerfully tropical: lots of peach with some mango and citrus. Taste is similar. Lots of tropical fruit with a dry and slightly bitter finish. Mouthfeel is good: soft and not too carbonated. Overall a lush, tropical, hazy IPA. Very very good.

Pint can - no date - poured into a squat tulip pint at 44F.
Pours a pale, extremely milky, deep yellow, topped with half a finger of white head that quickly recedes to a still top with a razor-thin collar. For perspective, the person sitting next to me saw it and said, "Is that orange juice?".
Nose: The aroma just explodes with dry hopped Citra goodness. Tangerine, grapefruit, mango, and a hint of sweet melon. Some more subtle Mosaic notes waft up as well. Ripe berries, papaya, white grape, and a hint of fresh green grass. The aroma isn't particularly complex or intricate, but it is very pleasant.
Palate: The beer greets the palate with an explosion of juicy tropical fruit flavour. Intense ripe, acidic pineapple, orange pulp, ripe mango, sweetened papaya, fresh grapefruit juice, and a hint of fresh, green lime leaf. The malt base is surprisingly clean, and not all that sweet. I'm sure there's a hefty dose of oat in here. There is also what many would refer to as "hop burn" - a sharp acidity that closely resembles that of pineapple. Some Finback IPAs have it bad, and can even be uncomfortable to drink. While it's not a positive trait, in this case, it sort of works with the bright tropical fruit flavours. The finish starts as th3 beer begins to dry out, and the acidity increases slightly. The more succulent flavours fall back, revealing a very restrained citrus pith bitterness, which also fades quickly, leaving a dry, chalky aftertaste.
Mouthfeel/Body: The beer is medium bodied, with a soft, part creaminess. However, the beer isn't thick or chewy. Despite the soft texture, the beer retains a surprising level of crispness. The effervescence ia lively and fine, and the hop burn gives the effervescence the sensation of seltzer. After drinking it for a while, the hop burn becomes slightly bothersome.
Overall: This is an interesting IPA. The aroma is fantastic, and the flavour ia great, as well is the unique creamy and crisp texture. These qualities alone make for a great beer, but unfortunately, the acidic hop burn is quite detrimental to the overall experience. Nevertheless, it's still drinkable, and it still tastes great. This isn't the first time I've had a really tasty Finback IPA with some really bad hop burn. Hopefully they'll eventually tone it down. The beer is great, but it has some flaws. Definitely worth trying, especially if one is able to ignore the burn.

Crowler from One Stop Beer Shop in Rochester, NY.
This one pours a hazy straw yellow color, with a small foamy head, and lots of lacing.
This smells quite citrusy, with orange creamsicle, grapefruit, and mango. It's a typical build, but it's done well.
This has a nice pithy and rindy bitterness to it, with a creamy and juicy hop character, soft orange, sweet grapefruit, and a bit of orange mango juice type flavors.
This is light bodied, creamy, and rich, and very drinkable.
This is just a solid no-frills IPA. Finback is consistently underrated.

A- A tallboy pours into a tulip glass with a milky, hazy pale straw body and a thick and creamy cap. The white fluff lasts very long before leaving huge sheets of thin lacing and webs sticking to the glass.
S- Fresh OJ really blasts off the top with fresh citrus like bright tangerine and grapefruit. Joining that are strong mango, acidic tropical, dank, bubble gum and papaya notes. All about the hops here. Juicy and nectary.
T- Juicy hops with a pithy and citrusy bitterness throughout. A lot from the aroma carries over with notes of mango, bubble gum, papaya, watermelon and creaminess leading off with tangerine, grapefruit and orange alongside. A touch of green hops but overall rather smooth hop flavors with hints of bread and cereal.
MF- Foamy first and then a touch creamy with a moderately high level of bubbles. Medium bodied and ends with a clean strong bitterness. Just a touch on the thinner side overall, like fluffier.
Kudos to Finback... juicy and smooth with everything from melon to tangerine with a nice sweetness and balanced hop profile.
