Session IPAs are not always my favorite, but this is pretty good. Mine was served icy cold, which is always a plus. Special? No. Good? Absolutely. Would like to try others from this Dayton brewer.

Canned 6/26/15 enjoyed 7/28/2015 in a snifter/tulip.

Look - Dark, murky, orange/grapefruit juice.Thin head for style. White. Lacing. It kind of scares me being advertised as a session.

Smell - Rye malt overpowers citrus.

Taste - Rye. Still not getting much citrus. VERY mild grapefruit if anything. Pine finish.

Feel - Medium for style. Dries up on the finish.

Overall - Very odd as a session. Rye. Dry. Don't get much citrus at all. If it was advertised as a rye, I'd like it more.

Decent beer but lacks a little direction. Nice head but body appears a bit too cloudy, bordering on an unfiltered wheat. Fruity and flowery nose, but taste doesn't follow suit. Instead, the flavor is bitter with a weak representation of malt. Helping lead to the miss on the palette is a watery body. Overall, I'd say look for another session IPA.

In search of a great session beer, this was recommended. I like that it's served in cans, and the smell and appearance when released from the can is great. Unfortunately, it has a somewhat odd taste, and it's not memorable at all. It has something a little bit off with the taste--the cans were fresh, but something just tasted kind of weird, although there were some nice IPA flavors there too. The biggest problem: for a session IPA, 5.2% ABV is a bit much for such a thin beer. I'll stick with my two favorite sessions: Even Keel by Ballast Point and Sunshine Daydream by Fat Head's

16oz beer on tap at the brewery, served in a Nonic glass, or the brewery equivalent of a nonic anyway.

Appearance: Bright copper-amber. Persitent thin off-white rocky head with some good sized strands of lacing left on the glass as I drank it down.

Smell: Nicely aromatic for a "session" IPA. Fresh cut citrus and sweet tropical fruit.

Taste: Mild, but solid, hop citrus flavor up front, a very mild malt middle - cracker like and barely there, and a mild bitter finish which is a bit crisp, but not overly so. The bitter finish is part citrus rind, part mild pine.

Mouthfeel: Good carbonation, surprising dry finish. Not sticky on the teeth.

Overall / Drinkability: Easily drinkable and just flavorable enough to be notable, but not a "wow" IPA. In a way....this may be a starter IPA for an evening. It warms up the palate, it enjoyable, but doesn't slam it so that the by the next IPA you don't know what the heck your drinking because the first one was a total hop wallop. I find the name is aptly appropriate for the beer - I was tempted to get another one of these but then I got distracted by one of the higher octane beers on the menu and didn't come back to this one. But that being said, because this wasn't that strong, but was still just flavorable enough, it works well for a session beer to enjoy and stop, or, to have before moving onto something else.
