place is on the smaller side - four sided bar with a few tables around the edges. theme is Mexican food like the other two Pistola's places - menu is mostly tacos with some other apps and small plates. 8 or 10 beers on tap, so not a huge selection, but they are quality American and Import craft beer options. Bartender is helpful, and the food was tasty.

I am familiar with Jose Pistola’s on 15th indeed. I don’t love the service or the food there but they occasionally have a rare beer (Abyss, Abraxas) so I stop by for a quick one whenever that happens.

A friend of mine kept telling me about brother Sancho’s on Fishtown and we finally made it there for brunch one sunny Sunday. This is a small place with not-so-great acoustics, but the service, food, beer all more than make up for it. Among the ten drafts, they had Bell’s Cherry Stout, Port Santa’s, Old Chub, Merry Taj, Allagash Four and Evolution Sprung when I visited, plus forty bottles including Russian River and Weyerbacher Last Chance. They also have a good mezcal list, albeit a bit pricey.

Their food is varied and well-priced compared to many brunch spots around Philly. Smoked salmon pastrami, massive breakfast burritos, delicious Brussel-sprouts tacos, roasted mushrooms, great guacamole… good stuff. I can only complain about how greasy-oily my ‘shrooms and sprouts were, but they both were truly yummy delicious.

Looking forward to another visit for sure!
