A 500ml bottle with a BB of Feb 2015. Picked up a while back from Sainsbury as part of their 2013 Beer Hunt. The label claims that it has a floral/citrus hop character and a crisp bitterness. Hopped with Cascade and Amarillo.

Poured into a straight pint glass. A golden-amber hue with faint haze and good carbonation. Forms a large head of creamy white foam that lasts for a few minutes before settling as a surface layer. Slight lacing. Aroma of fruity, floral hops with hints of lemon, mild citrus, subtle white grape, grass/hay, earthy yeast and faint malt. Restrained for an IPA but quite pleasant.

Tastes of light, fruity hops and faint malt, with a crisp, dry finish. Notes of white grape, lemon, mild grapefruit, citrus, faint grass/hay, subtle malt, earthy yeast and a twinge of stewed hops. Well-attenuated, followed by a subdued bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth, dry and tingly, with prickly carbonation and decent body. Lightly astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of mild fruity hops, stewed leaves and earthy yeast.

Not bad, though a tad underwhelming for an IPA - more like a regular pale ale to be honest. Looks OK, while the aroma and flavour have fruity hop notes and weak malt. An enhanced malt bill might have given it a bit more backbone. Body is alright; the carbonation is a bit spritzy. Drinkable enough but won't blow your socks off. No need to hunt it down.

Now brewed under the 'Atlas Range' by The Orkney Brewery.

500ml Bottle: BBD end of Feb 15, poured twice into a half-pint countryman glass tankard at home on 29th Dec 13.

A slight haze in my golden bodied beer, the white head tried to stay the distance and almost made it, carbonation bubbles rose throughout the 500ml.

A little too citrusy and raw for my palate, piny feel as well, but those lemon flavours did for me. The malts were not strong enough to give any sweetness to the brew and that allowed the hops 'free range' to do as they wished.

Just not 'my cup of tea', but I've scored it objectively!
