This is a FEST BIER and not a traditional Oktoberfest !!! It is light in color yet it has a tremendous Hop / Malt character. This is a Fest Bier that need's an experienced palette to savor the flavor. And let's keep in mind that this is a EURO STYLE BEER !!!

It start's out soft and deliciously malty with a slight caramel sweet malt flavor that becomes infused with a fine noble hop bitterness !!!

The water, decoction mashing of the malt's and the deliciously infused hop character bring together A Fest Bier like no other.

12oz bottle. Poured out a clear, amber color with ruby highlights and a small, khaki-colored head. It smelled of sweet caramel malt and toffee. Nice sweet caramel with hints of roastiness.

Pours a golden-copper that only has a thin film of fog to it. Head is a finger in height, white in color, and retains fairly well. Aroma is biscuit and pale malts with distant herbal hops. Flavor profile is soothing pale, biscuit, nutty and caramel malts lending it to a smooth experience. There is a hint of herbal hops, but nothing to throw the balance away from the storyline - malts. Mouth feel is medium in thickness with a fairly thin fizziness that borders on crispness. Overall, a fair oktoberfest-style beer. Easily consumable in mass quantities, but still tasty enough for a single, slow-sipping glass.

Draft. Reviewed from notes.

L: Golden clear; head reduced to small foamy ring.
S: Weak overall but pale malt with herbal hops
T: Initial sip gives a nice touch of sweet malt taste that is quickly followed by a tart taste that reminds me of a green apple. No it doesn't taste like apples but tart that is followed with a more typical hop spice note in the after taste.
O: Disappointing, This was labeled vienna style Lager and yet says fest beir and placed among the other marzen/feist beer offerings. I am no expert but marzen and fiest beers are one my favorites. This is closer to a marzen and is not a fest beer. The beer seems to be marketed as one thing and labeled as another. It is average at best. It reminds me more of hard cider due to the strong tart taste. If you like this flavor profile and want less hop look for Schlaflys Oktoberfest.

Excellent example of the traditional, seasonal German classic. This brewery is quickly becoming one of the stars of the KC scene. Whereas Boulevard and Martin City excel at Belgian influenced creations, KC Bier Company is the only brewery dedicated entirely to German styles, which are often maligned these days by some beer lovers seeking "bigger" flavors. But, there is something to be said for crafting delicate, subtle yet complex beers within the German tradition. A really good brewery.
