Great venue. Smallish indoor area but a nice sized biergarten complete with a music stage and playground-type stuff for the kids. The beers are all solid representations of German styles. They stick to that German style so don't expect to find any hop-bombs on the menu. Tried some of their German food. It was good.

I’ve been on driveabout (walkabout on wheels) for 4 days now but the unusual suspects just rolled in this morning. In Kansas City now. No, not that one, the other one. Looking to pregame the Royals and in no rush whatsoever. We’ve got a place in mind, a little way out and off the corner near a frozen custard sugar shack, as some of the best places are…

Large lime green monster standalone, park, up, & enter in. Long open room with high ceilings. Wood plank topped lightning bolt shaped bar with a horizontal plank base on the inner wall. Seating for 14 on dark wood chairs. 12 logo tap handled tower on stainless on the barback counter, and glassware to both sides & shelved below. ‘Biers on tap’ slat board on the wall above (beer, ABV, & IBU) displaying draft options in 2 rows alt colored chalked, and a logo bottlecap piece atop. Smaller boards list new beers up or food things happening. A large flat to one side and peek-a-boos to the brew room forward. And a red curvy overhead piece with cylinder spots tracing over the back end of the bar, with merch central housed back there where it widens under track spots.

Concrete floors, and a white panel ceiling with sound dampers, ductwork, ship wheel mix & match filament bulb chandeliers. Wine enthusiast, Beer Connoisseur, and Beer & Brewing scoring banners hanging in rows from the ceiling above. Walls in white & pale green over horizontal plank wood lowers. Panel roll up door to the biergarten on the near end, and alongside, a large topographical map of Germany with the locations of the origins of different beer styles tagged (that’s pretty badass). Far wall holds a row of medals dangling over a logo piece. A trio of square blackboards on the rear wall with music, events, and whatever that ‘Ein Prosit’ verbiage is about, mounted lamps & and some flaggings above. 3 bar counter tables about the room, and 6 picnics on the back wall; we’re sitting at one of them.

Slight side deck holds a dozen red metal stools on bar counter ledge space overlooking the aforementioned biergarten corralled below and around the bend. Gravel space with 2 dozenish picnics umbrella’d up or under awning, plus a few trees boxed offering stand around ledge space. Strung lighting back & forth, and hop vines climbing the side of the building. I could hang here and drink a lot of Lager, please, and thank you.

11 taps, 10 beers (Dunkel, Munich Style Brown Lager, 5.1%; Helles, Munich Style Golden Lager, 5.1%; Hefeweizen, Bavarian Style Wheat Ale, 5.2%; Pure Pils, North German Style Pilsner, 4.8%; Mandarina IPL, DDH India Pale Lager, 5.8%; Winterbock, Dark Doppelbock Lager, 8.25%; Festbier, Something style Lager, 5.5%; Dampfbier, German Ale, 5.3%; Edleweiss, Bavarian style Amber Wheat, 5.8%; Weizenbock, Pale Doppelbock Wheat Ale, 7.5%), and a single cider (Birne Cider, Pear Cider, 5.5%), plus the blends (Russ’n, Shandy, 2.5%; Radler, 2.5%). Beers are generally served in a 1L and a smaller pour (.27L, .35L, or .5L) but sometimes it’s just the smaller pour option where the beer is big. And they can and/or growl for the to-go.

I started with the Pure Pils (crisp, clean, nicely bitter, lovely) and then the Weizenbock (the place where Hefe meets deep plumminess), and then jumped to a sampler of 4 (Dunkel, chocolate, caramel, toasty fantastic; Helles, clean, crisp, biscuit love; Edelweisse, banana, clove, bready; Winterbock, a big boozy dark chocolate thing). I’m thinking Pure Pils, Dunkel, & Helles for the Wins, but there were no slouches to be found here.

I’m trying not to get all German beer schnookered but it ain’t easy. Really wanted the apple strudel but it wasn’t to be, as I have the wurst friends. Chill scene Tuesday. An excellent outing. I could do some time here.

KC Bier Co. was a mixed bag. Great quality lagers, doing good things in KC for sure, such as donating spent grain to farmers. I'll continue buying their beers around KC when i'm in town.

The space is industrial with a sports bar feel at the bar, and day care center vibe out in the patio. In all seriousness, kids outnumbered adults. It just wasn't a brewery vibe at all, more like a handful of adults decided to take all the neighborhood kids on a Sunday outing. Few were drinking, and there was an adjacent park and some play equipment in the gravel biergarten. I don't mind a few kids, but seriously it was overkill. You couldn't get through there without tripping over a stroller or kids sitting in the gravel. Keep this in mind if it's a nice day outside.

All that said, some of the beers were good, namely the Saaz pilsner and Der Hammer Altbier. Gose was forgettable, Hellerbock was decent.

Overall it was ok to visit, maybe better when kids aren't overrunning the place. Maybe in the dead of winter when the playground is closed? I'll probably head elsewhere next time, nothing against a few kids, but it wasn't enjoyable here.

Within barely a year of opening, they had two superlative flagships in the Hefeweizen and Dunkel - the latter is on almost every taplist in KC for a very good reason. The heavy snacks have lots of good German flavor to go with the bier styles, and the outdoor biergarten is well set up for warm weather. The kids and parents can both play!

KC Bier was #1 of 5 KC area breweries we visited on a beer and BBQ weekend in March 2017. We were there on a Saturday afternoon, and it was full but not overly crowded. We joined another group sharing a picnic-style table, just like you would do in a German bier hall. We tried all of their 4 seasonals on tap, and a couple of the regulars. Also ordered some food to share. KC Bier Co has a real German beer hall vibe. Authentic German beers paired with a small menu of German food. Absolutely worth a visit, whether you are a KC local or visiting from out of town.

Really well done German vibe to the place. Large drinking hall inside with an extensive patio/outdoor section. Decorations are minimal, but all well thought out. Nice quality all around. Service is friendly and abundant, with a general good knowledge of any and all of their beers, and even about the surrounding city. The selection is perhaps a bit limited as it is all KC Bier Company's beer, which isn't to say they don't have a large selection, it is just the selection itself is centered on German styles. If you're seeking something outside of that band, don't bother. Otherwise, they have all of KC Bier's standard, year-round brews on tap with an addition of half a dozen seasonal offerings, which add a bit of flair. Food is good. Nothing mind blowing, but still quality. It follows the German theme well, and pairs excellently with beer.

this place is really cool. traditional german style brews, all of them quite good, but whats awesome is how original some of them are, not just the classics. i had a fantastic oak aged maibock, as well as an amber weissbier, really fun stuff out there. their space is awesome too, not real big on the inside, sort of generic, high top tables, wrap around bar, lots of baseball on lots of televisions, but the outside area is amazing, a huge beer garden, hops growing up the wall, lots of picnic tables, very family friendly, large but still comfortable, short of intimate, but relaxing for sure. i was impressed with the quality of the beer, the authenticity of some of the recipes, the sheer size of the place, and the well maintained nature of the taproom facility. service was great, knowledgeable and courteous, happy to chat even when they were busy. i dont think these german type of places get enough credit sometimes, there is a lot more room for innovation in these brewing traditions than the average consumer realizes, and these guys seem to be in the front of the pack on that. great times to be had here.

Really nice, modern and accommodating spot with great service and a nice selection of their beers, all pretty top quality and well made. Nice outdoor area and even a spot for the kids. This is a great place to stop if you're on your way or coming back from Lukas and/or Martin City Brewing. (And, I liked this place better; just an all around neat place.)

A friendly, open brewery and tasting room to the south of Kansas City, specializing in, of course, German-style biers (and food). What food items they have on their limited menu are tasty, at least as far as the weisswurst, pretzels, and mustard are concerned. Brewing staff work the bar, and are more than happy to talk details around the beers and the brewing processes behind them. While admittedly US attempts at German styles, KC Bier Co. does many of them justice, producing a rather tasty lineup of lagers and a handful of ales (complete with a dry-hopped altbier called Hopfen Doof - aka Hop Stupid - for the more American beer oriented consumer).

The layout is simple, with a small parking lot, a long bar, and several tables in the tasting room. The tap station has spaces for everything KC Bier Co. has to offer at any given time, and the service tends to be prompt and friendly. The bier lineup is rather tasty, and I will return if ever in the KC area again.

This place has good brews, really exceptional recreations of German styles. Oak aged marzens and hopped up versions of altbiers. As authentic to the German style as possible, but they still display some American ingenuity. Can't fault them on the beers.
The space, I wouldn't call warm and inviting. It has a warehouse vibe on the outside which carries on into an industrial styled interior. Communal tables and a very long bar are highlights. Lighting seemed too bright if that makes sense. It didn't have the aura of a German bier hall, but maintained the spirit.
The staff while warm and congenial were very loose in their customer service. Young and doing things in public that is best left to the back of the house. I didn't get a chance to try their snack menu--too busy sampling Oklahoma Joe's. Overall, I'd go back there. Maybe for a football game or something because they have a monster flat screen. Had to be 72" at least.

One of my favorite breweries in and around Kansas City. The atmosphere is fantastic! Modern but with obvious German roots. I especially love their bier garden. The staff is friendly and polite. When it comes to beer, they have great modern German beer. I really enjoy their Dunkel lager, which is malty and easy drinking. Also, I highly recommend attending their Octoberfest celebration, which is full of Bavarian music, bier and food!

Truly incredible indoor and outdoor atmosphere and delicious German beer. Easily my favorite place in Kansas City. I enjoy the social nature of the seating and the friendly crowd. My personal favorite is the Dunkel which is easy drinking but has great body. I also enjoy the Radler for being lower in alcohol and refreshing after exercising on the trolley trail. I can't leave out that it is a great soccer bar and very family friendly. Anytime we have visitors from out of town we take them to this tasting room and biergarten.

Very nice addition to the KC beer scene. Whereas Martin City brewing company focuses on Belgian and Belgian inspired styles, this small but growing brewery devotes itself entirely to traditional German styles. Nice space with a legitimate Biergarten outside. Only real worthwhile attempt at an Oktoberfet celebration in KC, which usually occurs in mid to late September. Solid German food also a plus, as is the generally excellent service.

Checked this place out a few days after it opened. Walked in with a totally open mind with no idea what to expect.

The atmosphere was great. The best way I could describe it would be "German with a modern feel". Bavarian style set up with the long picnic tables for seating with a contemporary, minimalist style. Long bar with lots of seating, but fairly small seating area overall.

Quality of these beers were outstanding. The Hefe-weizen and Weisenbock were very traditional to the style and did a great job of highlighting the German characteristics. Quite frankly, one of the better hefe-weizens I have had. And the Hopfen Doof...wow. A alt with a hoppy American twist. This beer was amazing!

While they are only serving 5 beers at this time, the prices are fair and the flight offering is very reasonable. I've heard they have 30 bbl brewing and 60 bbl fermenting capability, so I hope to see a lot more in the future. The service was also very good. Given the location and the outdoor space, I hope to see this place put together a go-to event for Oktoberfest.
