The colour is dark gold with a tint of brown, the liquid is clear. The three finger head is white and compact; it sinks slowly leaving no lacing.
The smell is thick and spicy (nutmeg, allspice) with a slight Belgian yeast note. Hints of banana toffee. It doesn’t smell much like an AIPA…
The taste got some New World hops, but it is very yeasty-spicy-phenolic just like the smell. Some harsh bitterness, dried fruits and a touch of earth. Medium body. The aftertaste is even more phenolic with allspice, nutmeg and some plastic flavours. The long finish is sweet and spicy.
The carbonation is low to medium; the small bubbles short-lived. The liquid is semi-smooth and harsh.
Is this a Belgian IPA? The brewery doesn’t tell so I have reviewed it as an American IPA. Either way, this is not a very good beer.
