Finally got my hands on two four packs of these recently released C.B.C. Bodhi's out of the three that where available on the shelf. I have been drinking this beer for two years or so hear and there on tap throughout the Columbus area's craft brew inclined restaurant's. This beer is a Midwestern take on a west coast style double IPA from Columbus brewing company in Ohio. Poured out of a twelve ounce bottle, bottled on 07-21-16 so it's been three weeks or so since the vat. It pours a very pale color for a double, almost pale ale yellow with a slighter gold or bronze tint with barely a one inch head. On the nose it smells of grapefruit, pineapple, and a hint of lemon maybe which seems unique. It must be dry hopped as well considering the smell is a very pungent dominating west coast variety of hops that resemble pure pine on top of the citrus notes. It tastes as if the at this point, now obvious dry hopped process makes my mouth water beginning in the tonsil or throat area followed by a rush of bitter hops, citrus, definitely lemony note, and then a very slight warm alcohol taste that is nearly non existent having been covered up by the marvelous combination of citrusy fruit and piney hops. This beer is one of the finest double's I have ever had and I think it may be due to the relatively low abv for a beer of the double IPA style but it is nonetheless a world class double IPA. Columbus brewing company's beers tend to be low in comparison to others regarding abv anyway but all are quite amazing examples of American brewing. This is the best Columbus brewing company beer I have personally ever had and at least a top five, maybe top three double IPA's I can personally get my hands on in the Columbus, Ohio area. Fantastic, world class beer here.

12oz bottle into a Gandhi-Bot (pre-ban) tulip. Thanks TJ!

A: Hazy (but not remotely cloudy by today's standards) bright gold-orange body under a finger of creamy off-white head. Good retention and lacing. Attractive.

S: Pure, intense dank grapefruit hoppiness. Simple, straightforward, and excellent.

T: Citrus rind (both lemon and orange) up front, followed immediately by bitter grapefruit pith. The bitterness grows toward the back end, overwhelming the modest hint of biscuity malt that briefly attempts to make its presence felt. Grassy, herbal, astringent grapefruit bitterness on the finish. Nothing but astringency on the aftertaste. I appreciate the old-school focus on hops throughout - including bittering hops - but this is more than a bit unbalanced. Still, the front end deliciousness earns it a solid mark.

M: Creamy, soft, lively. Light resinous stickiness. Excellent DIPA body for sure.

O: Enjoyable beer, but not one I'll be quick to think of when remembering my favorite hop bombs.

Cheers!

Received in a trade, shared with JLindros.

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice crystal clear golden hue with a thin white head that fades to leave light wisps and a light halo.

S - Aromas of light caramel, light pine and earthy spicy. Little malt sweetness. No real booze.

T - Taste is similar to the nose, fair amount of malts, nice grapefruit, rather pine and spicy, some caramel, rather generic bitterness.

M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, not really boozy.

O - Overall this was a rather average dipa. Rather mosaic forward I think. Not boozy. Shocked.

Thanks to rudzud

Light fizzy head, slight hazy golden straw color.

Nose pine sap little tropical dank resin, oniony, mild citrus juice, grassy earthy, fruity, little malt.

Taste brings big sweet candy cracker dough, candy syrup, hint of booze, big spicy earthy hop, grassy, pine sap, little oniony again, resin, mild tropical citrus fruit but not much, little minty on the background, bit herbal, big bitterness, herbal bitter spicy chewy hop extract thing finish.

Mouth is med to heavier bod, decent carb, bit syrupy, little booze warmth.

Overall not very good, poor choice of hops, and poor execution.

Off white head. Golden orange color.

Very malty dipa. Huge bready and caramel malt back bone. Sticky and resiny. Weedy.

Not sure how this one gets such a high rating. I had a hard time with it.

Bottle (from the 7/16 release) into a tulip at fridge temp.

Look: light orange, not quite perfectly clear, with a nice persistent sudsy offwhite head.

Smell: mild spice, orange pith, lavender, oak.

Taste: an almost rye-like spice, with lots of floral notes, and hints of orange peel, pine, nutmeg/clove/banana. Starts off pretty delicate and subtle, but the flavor really gets robust and rich in the middle. Pretty good balance between sweet and bitter. No hint of alcohol.

Feel: medium body, fluffy, and quite dry.

Overall: a very good beer. Not especially better than the best from Stone, or Saint Archer, or Modern Times... but quite good, nonetheless.
