darlinclemintine had to go to Columbus the other day for work and - lord I do love her - came back with this and a couple other beers from the area. I'm an easy one to please with the business trip gift - just so long as I can drink it and it rhymes with "eer".

Golden is right, leaning a little toward the amber side. Clear, but not necessarily lacking character - nice coloring and little bubbles of carbonation rising lazily to the top. Upon first pour the head is made up of fairly large bubbles, but these settle into a more frothy look as the head goes down. Good lacing on the sides of the glass that I wasn't quite expecting from this.

Nose is quite nice. Grains and wonderful hop floral character. Very well balanced and big enough to be there without having to dive your nose in the glass.

Upon first taste I'd almost think that this was a lager. Similar vegetable aspect and low-toned bitterness at the end. Fairly heavy presence of yeast there as well. Some malt sweetness, but this is well balanced with the hops.

Full, viscous mouthfeel up front followed by a slight dryness in the end.

Overall this is quite a good beer. I'm impressed. I was once stuck driving in an enormous snowstorm through Columbus (or I should say my wife was driving, actually. I was doing my best not to freak out at the ambulance and cop cars in the ditches as we passed by). Since then, I had pretty much written Columbus off as the 3rd layer of hell.

Maybe I was wrong...

This is the second beer I've tried from my local microbrewery, Columbus Brewing Company (the first being the more widely available Columbus Pale Ale), and it is my favorite of the two. It pours a hazy golden straw color with a thin head. The smell and taste are very unique (although I must admit I am new to this style) - the first thing that comes to my mind is yogurt. The taste is quite sweet, almost honey-like, and very creamy. This is definitely an excellent brew, and one that makes me proud to be a Buckeye.

Pours a clear yellow/gold brew.

Smell is mild crisp toasted grain and a bit of sweet malt with some fruit in the smell.

Taste is a little sweet and fairly spicy. Nice rich flavor and a bit buttery. Mild toasted grain flavor and mild tartness with light hopping makes this a tasty brew.

Mouthfeel is good.

Excellent Drinkability, a well executed golden ale. This is tasty and easy on the tastebuds. An excellent brew to convert a macro brew drinker with.

Served as a sample at the Columbus Brewing Company. The color was golden, with a decent head. The smell was a light malt. The taste was of the somewhat sweet Vienna malt, with a decent hop backing. Mouthfeel was smooth. As for drinkability, a very light and refreshing beer I could definitely session with.

Definitely the best intro beer I've had at a brewpub. I'd definitely go back to Columbus, and buy 6 packs of each of their 4 distributed beers. A quality beer, and one I'd gladly have again.

Light golden clear color that had a reasonable white head and very nice lacing effects. I assumed this would be a fairly light beer since it was advertised as "...an excellent introduction to the world of fresh microbrewed beers." But this is not so. This is a nicely heady beer that does not squelch the real flavors of real beer. Decent malt presence along with some nice citrus hints from the hops. Completely compatible with the full line of CBC beers, not a pale second cousin for macro drinkers.

Tart bitter hops aroma with a hint of banana. Golden color with a thin white head and active carbonation. This beer retained the somewhat sharp hops favor throughout. The bitterness really had legs and kept the finish interesting. Overall the CBC has not let me down yet.

This beer poured a very light golden color and formed a nice white head that didn't hold and left trace amount of lace. Slightly cloudy with a small amount of carbonation present. The aroma was of hops and citrus. The flavor was of hops and citrus, but a bit bitter, which I usually don't expect in this style. It had a light finish. Not a bad beer, but not one of this brewers better ones.
