Balance, balance, balance.
To me even with some huge beers out there you need to have it.
Barrel aged uncle rusty makes no apologies and goes petal to the metal on the booze.
Deep, dark red pour with minimal head.
The nose is straight bourbon , like sticking your head in a barrel, it obliterates any of the base uncle rusty (which I love) that was there before.
Pretty much the same on the tounge, like taking a shot of beam, I get all bourbon and I lose all the rest.
Personally, I am a fan of the more subtle aging you find in the KBS or CBS brews. Even something like Rare or Bourbon county coffee has more nauance.
It's great they want to experiment and are pushing the boundaries, but this one needs to reign in the booze slightly to let rusty shine a bit more.

On cask at the Columbus North Market Microbrew Festival.
I somehow managed 2 1/2 pours of this brew. Dude... seriously... awesome.
Not much of a looker, but at the fest it was such a damn clusterfuck they couldn't afford to spend the time on a proper pour anyways. Looks really ruddy/cloudy, an amber/brown. I think the beer picked up some color from the barrel. Short soapy head to it.
Smells really nice, full of sweet bourbony oak and vanilla. Tons of toffee and light char is also vying for attention.
The taste is pretty bad-ass if you ask me. The hoppy bitterness of Uncle Rusty mingles with the smooth bourbon and oak characteristics of this beer. The oak is big, and it is lovely.
This beer is much more oak forward than the average barrel-aged beer, not sure if the base beer is to credit here or the type of barrel. Either way, the oak is a very integral part of the success of BA Uncle Rusty. Both bitter and hop forward, and also smooth, malty, and complex. Deep char, vanilla, and bourbon-fwd phenols make this a beer to remember.
Medium bodied with lower carbonation. Smooth with an excellent grainy oaky finsih.
Overall I am so damn impressed here. Tony was asking how much I might pay for a 750ml of this... which can only mean that they are considering bottling it some day. Damn dude. Just sayin'.

A- Pours a dark reddish brown color with just a handful of bubbles for a head.
S- Picking up quite a bit of wood, vanilla and something sweet. A bit of citrus hops are here. A nice touch of bourbon as well.
T- Man, I'm really digging this one quite a bit. Has a great amount of sweetness to this one. The barrel really comes through here and does some great things. Picking up quite a bit wood, vanilla and bourbon. This beer is awesome.
M- Medium in body and fairly light carbonation.
O- This is a great beer. I hope this one pops up more often.
