Great Name. Dark and smooth. Average stout though.

12 FLUID OZ bottle
Served in a snifter
This beer pours jet black and is topped with two inches of mocha head that leaves decent lacing.
The smell is rich coffee and roasted malt.
The taste is pretty much just like it smells. There is a lot of coffee flavor, but the roasted malt comes through as well along with some cocoa flavor.
Full mouthfeel
This is an excellent beer from an excellent brewery.

Pours black with nearly two fingers of dense, caramel-colored foam on top. Head retention is good with thick lacing left behind. Aroma is roasted and toasted malts, with the roasty notes poking through at the foreground. A little bit of toffee, and caramel add a little to the aroma depth. Flavor profile is smooth, and well-balanced notes of caramel, toffee, molasses, and roasted and toasted malts. It has a roasty, almost smoky finish. It tastes straightforward and simple, providing a well refined stout for enjoyment. Mouth feel is a touchy fizzy and grainy, but is otherwise velvety smooth. It has a medium thickness. Overall, this is a great, plain stout. Don't mistake the wording of "plain" to mean boring, as it has plenty going on, rewarding sipping and savoring, or gulping.

12oz bottle dated 1/4/18 poured into a snifter
A: Pitch black with the thinnest of heads
S: Quite complex with chocolate, espresso, caramel and vanilla
T: Matches the nose, same notes just the coffee is a little less emphasized versus the sweeter notes. Great balance here, I'm almost surprised this didn't see any time in barrel (though Columbus... you need to do that!)
M: Medium+ bodied, smooth, balanced, a touch of sweetness, just a hint of bitter
O: This is a great stout. The only thing that could make it better for me is a touch more bitterness. Or time in a bourbon barrel. I'll also be tossing a bottle aside to see how age treats it
