Description: Dark black with a small amount of coffee colored head. The smell is coffee. A lot of coffee. And not much else. Like the smell, the taste is dominated by coffee all the way through with not too much else going on. Feel is medium, which means it's a bit on the light side for a stout.

Suggested food pairing: Chocolate cake

If you like this beer then you should also try: Sumatra Brown

Overall: 3.75 (This beer is good but I would not likely drink it again) Pretty straightforward. It's a coffee stout and delivers what it promises as far as that goes. But there's nothing really special about this that would set it apart or make it memorable.

Among the best coffee stouts I've had. Smooth, medium roast coffee is front and center in both aroma and taste, but not overwhelming. Strikes an impressive balance between dark, slightly bitter roasted malts and rich semi-sweet coffee with cream. Body is medium and full, would like for it to be a bit more slick and viscous, but it fits nonetheless. If you like coffee beers you'll like this.

Bottled 11-11-16. DFH Tulip.
Just getting over a cold.

A: pours a completely opaque black, with 2.5 fingers dark tan, frothy head. Some slight carbonation right at the edges. Lacing was incredible, retention good overall, great for the style. There was a lot of (presumably coffee) sediment, so good to give this one a swirl before pouring.

S: sweet and roasty. Doesn't smell as much like coffee as Bell's java stout. Very similar to FBS. Kind of fruity actually. Dark fig and date.

T: not terribly sweet on the arrival, quite tart and malty; coffee is there, but true to Brioso form it is an unwashed, berry loaded medium roast for sure. Tart and winey finish. Dark chocolate is an apt descriptor. Not too sweet. Mild coffee roast bitterness lingers.

M: mid to full bodied, lighter and less viscous/slick than many I've had. Modest carbonation, but fairly active for the style.

O: not the most "coffee tasting" coffee stout I've had, but probably the best. Distinctively berry and dark fruit angle, with medium body and great drinkability. CBC continues to set itself apart on the Columbus beer scene with both innovation and craftsmanship with this one.

Poured from a 12oz bottle. Pours a thick, opaque black with a mocha head. Coffee dominates the nose and the palate of this beer (almost overwhelmingly so). There's a little less subtlety to the flavor profile than I would like, but ins gesamt, it holds its own. It's a very cohesive beer - one that embraces its coffee fetish and runs with it well.
