I had this beer at Columbus Summer Beerfest among many many other beers. Easily the best stout of the night. Flavor profile was Dark Chocolate, Vanilla and subdued oak/bourbon flavor from the barrels it was aged in. The flavor was great but I was more impressed with how it was not very boozy like most fresh BA'd impys are. This could easily be the KBS/BCS that Columbus Brewing Company makes if they decide to make more of it.

Look – No head. Dark thick body. 4.25

Smell – Sweet sugary chocolate. A little booze.

Taste – Has a little bit of a Belgian yeast taste. Overall it tastes like a Cow Tale or Tootsie Roll. There is a little whiskey taste.

Feel – Not as creamy and smooth as the CBS I just had. It is smooth enough.

Overall – I was at the bar to buy Backwoods Bastard or another CBS. This is not on the same playing field, but good. I am glad I tired it.

Steel Dawn ( Stout aged in Heaven Hill barrels with vanilla beans added )

A: Pours deep black , No light penetrates this beer , minimal head that descends quickly leaving a tiny off white lace.

S: Vanilla , toasted malt , bourbon , chocolate , brown sugar.

T : Vanilla upfront with slight bourbon notes , a sweet roasted malt backing with some burnt brown sugar notes, a chocolate presence but not prominent , minimal hop .

O: Overall , This was a treat to drink , very well balanced barrel aged stout , the 10% was hardly noticeable , This one is a winner .

Great job CBC .
