Pours a dark, dark brown with a creamy, tan head. Once the head disappears there is some light lacing around the glass.

The aroma is a bit lighter than expected, however it is still pleasant. I get notes of roasted coffee, chocolate, and a faint hint of brown sugar.

The taste is very heavy on the roasted coffee notes, with some lighter milk chocolate flavors on the back end. A very good balance of bitterness and sweetness.

The mouthfeel is medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Drinks almost like a stout.

Overall I find this to be a fantastic porter. I love the balance of the bitter, roasted coffee and the sweetness of the chocolate. The aroma is a bit underwhelming but what notes I can actually detect are excellent.

Poured from the bottle into a nonic pint glass.

Beautiful cascading bubbles out into the glass, creates a nice controlled big rich topped three finger possibly four tall light tan head. Slight styrofoam like top sitting on a very dark mahogany and red like body. Great looking beer.

Deep aroma of chocolate malts on the nose. Rich sensing chocolate, with a tiny bit of roast. Slight touch of tangy and twinge of faint bitterness though that's a bit off slightly. Otherwise pretty excellent.

Tangy palate and nicely flavorful. Rich first sip is a bit carbonated, but a nice malt chocolate sweetness hits first. Milky chocolate with a good roast bitterness. Very long lingering almost ashen quality that lasts, with deep grains and flavor. Char and light chocolate. Tangy bitterness of hop that also accents nicely.

Very well put together porter.

Coffee chocolate dry and sweet all at the same time. I continue to be amazed by the beers coming out of this place. Can't wait to see what's next!!!

Poured from a 16.9oz bottle into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a deep dark brown color with a very thin brown head that fades quickly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains rich coffee, milk chocolate, roasted malts and a faint touch of hops.

T: The taste likewise starts out with sweet rich flavors of coffee and chocolate. Then a hearty roasted malt character comes in along with some creaminess. The hops presence is mild but complementary and brings a good balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and very smooth, medium body, light-to-medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: Tasty, goes down very easily, not too filling, mild kick, good representation of style, this is a very solid porter to drink for a long time.

From a pint bottle into my Trillium tulip. Black as blackest night, maybe a little bit of mocha highlight when I hold it up to the sunlight because, yes, I'm drinking this in the afternoon when I should be working. You have a problem with that? Fine. Moving on... a fat, sloppy chocolate colored two-finger head which stops to say hello and then slopes off somewhere else leaving a few spots of lacing behind. Smells like Coca Cola and ammonia, or maybe like pee on dry leaves. I know that sounds disgusting, but it's not. I promise. T: Coffee first, of course, and a little cocoa but... there's sweetness without actual maltiness, hard to describe, sort of like caramel colored sugar water and copper. I know, I'm making this sound awful but I really am enjoying it. Feels light bodied and pretty fizzy for a porter, leaves a sticky coating on the tongue. Overall: I liked, I really did. I'd drink it again. I might not buy it but, if someone bought me one, I'd definitely drink it. Probably more than one.

look; black, nice caramel molasses head, excellent retention and lacing
smell; dark roasted coffee, burnt caramel, black licorice, milk chocolate
taste; burnt malt and coffee grounds with a softer sweeter cheap easter chocolate undertaste
feel; full bodied, not much carbonation,
overall; pretty good balance between bitter and sweet, bitter wins out; heavy, one is nice, couldn't imagine two

Very dark brown, almost black. Large orange/brown head that lasted forever.
Strong aroma of roasted malt, some chocolate, and vanilla.
Espresso, espresso, espresso! Very dark and bitter. A little chocolate, a little vanilla.
Big-bodied for such a low alcohol beer.

One can, and this was poured into an English pint glass.
The appearance was a nice looking mostly dark brown close to black color with a tan foamy head that slid off at a nice pace. Stringy lace ran here and there.
The aroma had a huge roast to it then a coinciding sweet burnt toast with some dark chocolate and a mild milk chocolate delving in underneath.
The flavor was a clingy sweet to roasty blend of the burnt toast, coffee grounds, dark and milk chocolate. Subtle aftertaste of the burnt toast and dark chocolate and a tickle of the coffee grounds.
The mouthfeel was almost medium bodied, seemed to sit just a little bit underneath. An in-between glance of trying to figure out if this is sessionable or sipping because that roastiness does bear down in a certain grip on my tongue, but it's also not overwhelming. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt as projected.
Overall, it's a damn good American porter well worthy of coming back to.

From the 650 ml. bottle. Sampled on October 24, 2015.

The pour is dark brown to near black with a long lasting tan head.

There is a vibrant coffee and caramel malt character in the aroma. Little to no hops.

Medium to full body.

The coffee grinds are found in the taste along with a sweet, toffee-like malt quality. The sweetness carries it. Nicely done.

Bought a bottle at the Beer Shop in East Longmeadow. The beer pours with a jet black appearance, a chocolate brown-colored thin head, and some thick, but patchy lacing on the sides. Subtle cocoa aromas mixed with coffee and a bready flavor. Taste is decently sweet with a solid mix of malts, chocolate, nuts, vanilla. Really awesome texture and mouthfeel to this drink; dessert-like but not excessively creamy. Overall, I really enjoyed the look and mouthfeel to this beer.
