Chestnut brown in appearance with a thumb sized, foamy head that is off-white coloured and stays well.

Malts and caramel along with some medium strength bitterness and a light fruit aroma in the background. The beer is quite earthy with a nutty smell but overall it was nice, if a little weak.

Rich bitter malts and a hint of caramel along with some fruits and earthy malts along with a good nutty base. There was hints of grapefruit and citrus in there as well.

Smooth and with mild carbonation along with a light bitter and earthy feel to it. Quite subdued overall but it does have a nice mouthfeel.

A basic red ale though, and although one I would drink again it's not likely to be one of my regular beer and is by no means a classic.

Served at the Garrick pub in Belfast, Northern Ireland, from a bottle into a Harp pint glass. Reviewed from notes.

A: Pours a dark black with a four finger head of fair cream and retention. Appealing.

Sm: Malty. Maybe grapefruit. Fruit and estery hops.

T: Cream on the open to balanced fruity body with a pectiny citrus grapefruit finish. Strangely built and a bit unbalanced. The body is overemphasized.

Mf: Very crisp. Nice balance of coarseness and smoothness. A bit chewy.

Dr: Steep price for a decent beer.
