So, hours and hours on the road and we’d put up in Williston at a hotel just off the highway. Got out early for breakfast in Winooski, backtracked to a brewery south down 7, and looped back to Williston again. Late morning beer store in a sprawling shopping complex kind of almost nearly just across the street from where we started...

So, Beer Palate, located right next to the movie theater (so you know). Shiny, neat, clean, new place, simply done and decorated with a few Allagash barrels riddled about. Authorized Heady retailer? Yep. Sticker in the window and everything (everything being Heady). Hundreds of beers, domestics, American craft (with all the obligatory Vermont goods), and mad imports, with the selections arranged by style.

6 tap growler station to the rear (Yes, growlers), 5 of them currently up; local (Lost Nation Pitch Black & Petit Ardennes, Trapp Golden Helles Lager, Long Trail Brown Bag Series #6 Black Rye IPA), and regional (Brooklyn Fire & Ice).

Easy to and from the interstate. Service is good. They guy’s on and has a kid who’s been in the beer game for a decade. Good beer education and they’re doing events, too.

This used to be my go to bottle shop. They recently stopped doing growler fills and have very little in stock compared to a few months ago. Lots of empty shelves and what they have left is a shell of it's former self. They also totally stopped updating twitter/Facebook about a month ago. Seems like they are headed to go out of business.

Was greeted on arrival, very knowledgeable. Clean, nicely laid out and all beers were identified with prices.

I went here shortly after they opened to see what they had going on.

The guy at the counter wouldn't even look at me and just grunted at me when I said hello.

I left without buying anything.

I decided to give it another shot a couple of months later.

Same deal, different guy.

And that was the end of that.
