The style of American IPA is all about hops. A simple malt profile allows a massive dosing of American hops to slap your palate. We chose our yeast strain and control our fermentation to impart bright esters that provide a lightly fruity support that fills out the hop profile.

Can from Bin 22. Nice looking pour, even into a hotel plastic cup. Medium dark golden with nice fluffy head, lots of lacing. Nice full hoppy aroma turns into a big, dank, floral hoppy flavor. Dank up front, bitterness creeps in towards the back. Everything you’d expect from a NW IPA.

like their pale ale, i would be willing to venture a guess that the poor ratings here are a result of them not being so great when this first came out, but trust me when i say that their beer has improved pretty much across the board, and i have actually been enjoying this one this summer. its clean as the go, old school but not malty, and with a nice fresh and bitter hop profile that reminds me of centennial, although im not sure what they use. it has that fresh pine tree element to it, with soft bitterness and a bright clean zip, a bite that isnt harsh but a very distinct flavor, even green and spicy to some extent, almost entirely in the finish, and sort of mild and under flavored even until then, so it comes up fast and assertive. it rises quick, but so too does it go away rapidly, this is dry and clean in the finish, west coasty, but not even oily there at the end, just bitter and then gone, which i like in a warmer weather context. some of these hazy dry hopped bombs can be a bit cumbersome in the summertime, but this one stays pretty crisp. balancing grain underneath, flavorless ale yeast, high carbonation. best when ice cold. if its been awhile since you have had one of these, give it another shot...

12 oz. Can
ABV: 6.6%

My first from this brewery.

Poured into a Trillium glass a pretty nice hazy yellowish color, pretty nice carbonation, with a pretty nice thick/creamy one-finger plus white head, which also leaves some pretty nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is hoppy, malty, with a nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, grapefruit), some pine. The taste is hoppy, malty, with a nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, grapefruit), piney. Medium body, ABV hidden nicely, with a dry/bitter finish. Overall, a tasty brew.

Pours a clear, straw colored pale.
Nice, fluffy head.
Slightly sweet, piney aroma.
Crisp, a touch of zest. Nice balance of dry, piney, slightly tropical bitterness and sweet malts.

12 oz can. Pours slightly hazy dark yellow gold with a big pillowy white head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is subdued sweet biscuit malt.

The flavor is lots of sweet biscuit malt with a little fruit and floral, slightly harsh, hop in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, too much biscuit not enough hops.

Pours a nice thick 1 1/2 inch head. Beer is light copper and filtered. Very bready smell, mixed with pine. First sip is malt forward but a hop finish lingers extensively on the pallet. Mouthfeel is mild and under carbonated for an IPA. More reminiscent of a Belgium offering. Lacing is adequate but fleeting. I would definitely say this leans more towards an East coast IPA. But overall the sum total is more impressive than the parts. I would drink it again.

Once again, I have to preface an IPA review by saying that I'm not an IPA guy, but this one was pretty decent. Smelled and tasted like an IPA should. They explained it as a west coast-east coast blend, and I guess I could buy that. Wouldn't be my first choice to order, but was pretty drinkable.
