Second review (21 March 2015): New dark bottle instead of the can. Looks a lot more professional but less interesting. Features "Dokodemo Yuki-chan" on the bottle, the PR character for Hokkaido travel. I still love the flavor and the sweetness, but there is a really odd aftertaste this time. Being able to compare this now a bit more to other Old Ales I've had, I lowered the score from a 4.27 to a 4.0. I still think this is a pretty delicious strong old ale, all things considered.

Bought an aluminum can of this from a Hokkaido grocer in Yurakucho, Tokyo. Bottled on 6/13/2012. The beer's name means "What the Company President Normally Drinks." Poured into a white wine glass. Just as an old ale should, this poured a murky brown with relatively no head. Thin purple rim around the edges suggests its high alcohol content as well as a matching scent of ethanol. Other smells include hops, cherry, and spices. The flavor matches spot on with the warming sensation of ethanol coming through delightfully. Overall, this was a wonderful old ale (although i'm wondering why it says on the bottle to consume before 60 days. Is this really an old ale, or is it just a strong ale? Barleywine? Regardless, I loved it, and the aluminum can and pull-tab top provides an interesting conversation).

Thanks to RobBeer for bringing this beer from whereever he did.

A - Odd orange hazy body with a small tight head.
S - Very small malty aroma, with urine like notes.
D - Starts off dry and disconnected sweetness comes in strong fromt he middle to finihs. Lots of husky powder (hard to believe adjuncts were not used). Odd bitterness.
M - Well integrated with alcohol not noticeable considering its 10%.
D - Did someone pee in this? Definately pass this beer up.
