Notes / Commercial Description:
Brueders Thal simply translated is "Brothersvalley", and this brown ale does not dissappoint. It harkens back to when the valley was settled and you had just enough time to brew some sustanance prior to the winter setting in. The label is a picture of the first homestead of the Knepper family in our valley. This brown ale will transport you to our valley & to a time when beer was sustenance, thats right it still is!

Dark mulberry brown with a fluffy sepia-colored head. Looks delicious.

Bittersweet chocolate and toffee with a burly English maltiness and hairy roast. Finite mint and earthy aromas are by-products of the hops. Quaint. Good.

A rather roasty brown ale with elements of steeped coffee, smoke, cocoa, and toffee brittle. Earthy hops add complexity, but that minty finish is noted. More than just approachable, downright fantastic. Love that salty/smoky element that comes through out of nowhere. A really meaty brown ale that pushes toward porter.

The feel is bushy-tailed. Carbonation, excellently represented. The body is roundabout there, so it's pretty close to awesome. At least, it's better than you might expect.

A promising beer from a new brewery. Seems like this will be their flagship. Cheers.

If its as good as their pale ale I will be impressed. Mixed and matched at the house of 1,000 beers.

A - Very deep chestnut brown very wood looking with a solid inch plus of mocha tinted head that sticks around for a bit. Great lacing and looks like its full of brown malt!
S - Actually quite timid smell it does have some hazelnut, some brown malts, and a hint of coffee. Smells good.
T - Loaded with brown malt and a hint of nuts I am kind of off put by the earthy bitter hops but as I sip I am enjoying it. Wish it was a bit sweeter though.
M - Medium bodied with chewy earthy hops and nutty goodness.

Overall it is good worthy of an above average score. Liked it a little less than their pale ale.

A: Pours a clear, almost opaque deep chestnut brown in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation along the edges of the glass and moderate mahogany + crimson red highlights. The beer has a three finger tall dense foamy tan head that slowly reduces to a medium sized patch of thick film surrounded by a large patch of very thin film covering the remainder of the surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of roasted malts, dark malts, and toffee with light hints of chocolate + coffee and just a touch of nutty aromas. Light earthy aromas from the hops.

T: Upfront there is a moderate to slightly stronger than moderate flavor of roasted, dark, and chocolate malts with a light to moderate flavor of toffee and toffee sweetness. That is followed by light nutty flavors and hints of coffee. Finally there is a light flavor of earthy hops which contribute a light to moderate amount of bitterness when combined with the roasty bitterness.

M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation.

O: A really enjoyable brown ale and that I not something that I say everyday - it stands out a bit from the pack due to the richness and complexity of flavors. I'm quite surprised by this one and I'm glad I picked it up on a whim. Easy to drink with good flavors and well hidden alcohol.
