500ml bottle, Batch #2, poured into a stemless wine glass. Enjoyed on 1.22.17, reviewed from Tasting Journal.

The beer pours a pale golden color, hazy and cloudy with lemon and straw hues and a foamy white head crests atop the beer which has great retention and yields nice swatches of lace. The aroma is pleasant, pale grain, nice funky character, soft oak, mineral water with some lemongrass, a bit of spice with lingering yeast that is lightly fruity and floral. The flavors offer plenty of pale grain, light clovey yeast, nicely developed funk, oak barrel, mild citrus and wildflower come out with lingering mineral water. The mouthfeel is nice, lively and active lighter body, crisp and snappy finish.

Verdict: A nice saison from Transient. It's approachable, soft, easy, moderately well balanced and very crushable. The funk is developed well and the oak treatment is appreciated, nice American take on the classic style.

Pours a rustic golden color with a minimal sudsy white head that is in a hurry to leave, and in fact does so like it’s been TOLD to leave. The nose has lots of white wine aromas (like green grapes) and a nice bit of oak.

The taste is seductively smooth, with the white wine notes imparting a nice bit of funky tartness and working very well with the rustic oak flavor. If the mouthfeel had even a modicum of carbonation/effervescence, this would be scads better.

As it is, it is really easy to drink and quite enjoyable, but it could’ve been so much more with the proper mouthfeel, IMHO.

Pours the color of white grape juice, with a little darker hint. Interesting head big bubbles, poured with very little carbonation, judging by looks I thought it may be flat. It isn’t but definitely on the flatter side.

Nose is a pleasant combination of saison funky yeast, vanilla and oak, a citrus infused white wine. Very refreshing smell, hits the spot for the humidity.

The taste brings similar funky yeast, refreshing acidity, white wine vibes with some minerality to go with it. The oak is noticeable in the finish. Quite tasty.

Light body, low carbonation, drinks a little flat, a slight acidic bite on the finish along with some oaky tannin. Goes down very easy.

A tasty beer and exactly what I wanted it to be tonight. The low carb is it’s only downside, other than that it’s a great beer and I’m definitely enjoying this one.

Served from the bottle in a Lagunitas mason jar.

There's precious little I'm truly ardent about, but there are things on that list. Trust me. anyway, this stuff pours a clear brass-amber topped by a half-finger of lightly off-white foam, which doesn't feel like sticking around very long at all. The nose comprises funky lemon zest, a bit of a Brett affect, light wet grass, and a touch of rubbing alcohol in the back. The taste leads with a dull blend of orange, grapefruit, lemon, and funk, then transitions into a vaguely grainy grassiness, before settling into the funky yeast and wet barrel. The body is a lithe medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a staid feel. Overall, an interesting saison, though I'm not sure the barrel helped this one out as much as was hoped.

This is an attractive beer. Plenty effervescent, to the point where I had to back off the pour to avoid spilling over. Decent head retention leaving behind a thin ring. Color is a semi-opaque glowing yellow. Aroma is all farmhouse ale with plenty of citrus notes and a clear hint that this is going to be nice and tart. Taste brings in notes of citrus and pepper, with the peppery / spicy notes lingering for quite some time. Not picking up much in the way of hops, but certainly not to its detriment. Overall not as tart as the nose implied and the finish, while dry compared to other styles of beer, is not particularly dry for a farmhouse. Very drinkable, with no real alcohol coming through. While not a high ABV beer (5.5%), this could easily be a table / session beer at 3.5% - 4%. Another good Transient beer.

Seyval Blanc release - I tend to stay away from farmhouse beers, but it's startling how sour and funky this one is. There are also light grape/wine notes, and the carb isn't so heavy as in most Belgian styles. The finish is slightly dry and a bit musty. The barrels are definitely there.

This caught me a bit by surprise. It's quite good!

Feel like transient's sour saison work goes underrated. Here is another example. The pour is a clear gold with no foam but decent carbonation. Smell is sweet lemon, spring flowers, grass, orange and sour oak. Taste is all of the smell but with much more vibrancy, brought out by the contrasting belgian yeast, dry wine finish, and subtle grains. Plenty sour and smooth, really enjoyable

750ml bottle(I had to look twice as the bottle this size is usually a 500ml serving, but the bottle clearly says on the label that there is 750ml of beer in this bottle) sealed with gold pressure cap.

Batch #2

poured into Allagash "Small Chalice".

Appearance: Opaque golden straw yellow body. Bone white head that stacks up 2 fingers tall of creamy head that thickly coats the side of the glass. Head has good staying power and keep a thick cap during most of the drink.

Smell: Nice notes of deep dry oak. Citrusy hops and not much sour notes to smell. Light and pleasant funk.

Taste: This beer is definitely wild without being sour. Bright and light Meyer lemon citrusy tang with dried oak barrel compliment. Slightly sweet flavor of grains, straw, and hay. A hint of slightly stale hops that dont contribute any bitterness to the beer. Finishes just like it started with a nice lingering citrusy note and a hint of oak.

Mouthfeel: medium body with low yet adequate carbonation. Pillowy soft texture with such creamy rich carbonation takes the flavors of this farmhouse to the next level! It makes me wonder if this beer was on nitro draft and not out of the bottle I poured it from... Subtle dry finish as well.

Overall: I don't know why, but I did not expect to like this beer as much as I did. The mouthfeel on this beer is absolutely outstanding. I am always a sucker for farmhouse ales that have citrusy character to them as Ardent has in abundance. I normally do not like hoppy wilds as that stale hop character really offends my taste buds in this case with Ardent it is not the case. A nice surprise from Transient. This is great for drinking on its own, but would also work well as table beer that would pair well with chicken, fish, or any other entree.
