A: Sweet vanilla, coffee, maple, molasses, mild roast malts. Very smooth and mellow, excellent.

F: lots of molasses and maple upfront, sweet mocha coffee, Vanilla, and very smooth roasted in malts and oak

M: silky full body with light carbonation. Lingering vanilla maple and mocha with a sweet oak in the background

O: exceptional beer with very silky smooth and balanced flavors. Well composed and very enjoyable

Appearance - The beer poured an inky black color with carbonation hidden in the darkness.

Smell - Maple sweetness was evident with bourbon in the background.

Taste - At the front, the maple is evident though not overly sweet or cloying. The maple is balanced with bourbon as they were meant to be. Notes of vanilla, chocolate fudge, cinnamon, and brown sugar lay in the background. The boozy maple carries into the aftertaste with mild warming.

Mouthfeel - Oily viscosity coats the mouth, allowing the sweetness to linger.

Overall - This probably better than CBS.

Received in a trade and shared with JLindros. Kentuckley was phenomenal at a fest and had to trade hard for this. Review #3400.

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice dark black hue with a super light dark chocolate head that disappears quickly to leave a thin halo. Excellent legs though.

S - Big aromas of fudgy chocolate brownies and bakers chocolate, lighter coffee notes, vanilla is great. The bourbon is awesome, great oaky vanilla. The Blis barrels are just wonderful.

T - Taste is similar to the nose with phenomenal vanilla and great dark chocolate fudge brownie, vanilla barrel, bourbon juice and barrel. It's a luscious flavour, complex chocolate vanilla maple bourbon.

M - Mouthfeel is nicely carbonated, creamy, thick, luscious. Alcohol slightly noticeable.

O - Overall this was a very great stout. The maple notes are phenomenal, vanilla and chocolate are great. The only knock is the appearance. The head was a bit lackluster.

Appearance: poured a highly viscous thick black color with very little head. My wife questioned if I was pouring motor oil.

Smell: picking up tons of adjuncts including maple, chocolate, vanilla, and coffee. Each one is not that characteristic or unique but when its all together, its kinda like a chocolate candy bar. Traces of bourbon with notes of sweet caramel comes to you near the finish.

Taste: insanely sweet with all the adjuncts. What is really most prominent is the chocolate and the vanilla. The coffee comes in form of highly sweet mocha with chocolate swirls. The maple amps up the sweetness, giving a little note of caramel. Almost no alcohol presence. The sweetness kind of hovers over the bourbon, but it is just noticeable at the finish.

Mouthfeel: super thick and heavy. Very sticky.

Overall: I like it a lot. I would like it more if I had a friend to split this with. It's a lovely beer but easier to share due to its syrupy, cloying, sweetness.

Had on tap, Wow this is a rich and deep maple stout! The bourbon and maple are star crossed lovers, giving the beer a huge mouthwatering maple barrel note in the smell and taste, like a wave crashing upon the vanilla, coffee, and fudge. So much decadent flavor! Feel is thick, chewy, sticky sweet and warm.

A - Pours pitch black with a thin brown head. Light soapy lacing.

S - Aroma is fudge brownie, coffee and bourbon.

T - The taste is big dark chocolate fudge brownie, coffee, maple syrup, vanilla, cinnamon and big bourbon.

M - Full bodied with medium carbonation. Syrupy mouthfeel with a oily dry finish.

O - This is an exceptional BBA stout. Flavors are perfectly balanced with the warming alcohol. About as good as it gets.

Transient beautifully captures the adjunct imperial stout here. Sweet, bitter, chocolate fudge bomb, with cinnamon popping across the balanced maple bourbon. Well done...and goes toe-to-toe with the best of them.
