picked up the growler last weekend when i was passing by the brewery. enjoyed from my TB batch 2 snifter.

through the growler black as night, the pour was a watery dark brown that settled in the glass black...a thin creamy tan head hung out for a while with small bubble eruptions on the surface of the brew. lace was slippery and left a few speckles here and there when swirling the glass.

nose is a really crisp roasty chocolate. very nice and cooling, not too much char. some nice nuttiness on the background.

taste is fairly roasty with cooling chocolate. far more char on the taste than the nose. mouth is soft, portery...char and cooling.

overall a fairly subtle and easy drinking porter, but i tend to prefer porters that are a bit bigger and bolder. it's ok, not my fav from the catalog but worth checking out if you dig porters...fairly classic and to style.

A very thin watery porter. Not much roast or chocolate flavor present. Id pass

My second serving, from the tap, at Mugs Alehouse, Brooklyn, NY.
Pours a dark brown with a creamy head and ultra thin collar. Disapates halfway, no collar or lace retains.
Aroma is nutty, has chocolate, cinnamon, coffee, and vanilla.
Sweet at first and promising. Then, the palate becomes dry, nutty and earthy. Raw grain, earthy hops, moderately bitter, charred wood, woodsy. The aftertaste lingers. A hint of grapefruit, spicy dark bread crust.
Medium bodied, slightly rough and no alcohol detected.
I like how this one started out and it certainly has some complex flavors. However, I feel the texture could have been smoother and that some of the sweetness should have retained longer instead of it being briefly evident in the beginning.

Quite possibly the best porter I've ever tasted! Rich and smooth while still session-able.

Too light, almost watery in taste. Smelled of roasted chocolate and coffee.

Was expecting more from them, will have to try others.

Lives up to its name. A porter but not over the top like many American porters can be. Roasted but still light
