Hoppy, Malty, Clean, Balanced

Crystal clear golden in color with a massive foam head. Layers of floral notes and hoppiness in the nose carry through to the palate with a smooth body, a bite of bitterness, and herbal undertones. A malty sweet backbone pushes back a bit with some toasty bread crustiness, and the clean, dry finish with some mild astringency induces moreishness with each sip. Bitey and balanced, Townie Ale could easily become a go-to beer in my fridge.

As reviewed in BeerAdvocate magazine #119 (December 2016).

Poured out a clear, fizzy, golden hue with a small, fizzy, white head. Smelled very citrusy. Fairly sweet. Also, some strong floral notes. It tasted sweet with a mild grassy hop quality. It had a citrus kick, too. It was crisp and sharp.

Pours a beautiful, clean, pale amber with a two inch creamy head. Minimal lacing, retaining a thin head to the bottom. Light hop on the nose, more malt — pleasant but not over-the-top. The sip is sweeter than expected, and gives way to a slightly dry, hop intensive swallow that leaves you wanting another gulp. Feel is slightly heavy for an ale, but warms nicely, without a heavy alcohol presence. For my money, the best beer I've had after living in Colorado for over a year ($8.00/6 pack).

Clear, dark gold hued body; thick, fluffy, white head. Bright citrus and mellow fruity hop aroma. Light sweetness with a fruity overtone to the flavor; light cereal grains; light breadcrust; bold hop bitterness at the back-end. Medium body; smooth and crisp.

Post Brewing delivers an excellent pale ale chock full of delicate yet bold flavor profile. The aroma comes on full-tilt while the flavor and mouthfeel are more subdued, initially, yet deliver the goods with great balance and subtle complexities.

one of their most popular beers here, somehow i have not had it until now. its a session ipa type, with immaculate clarity, a ton of rising carbonation, and a lasting white head an inch high, looks almost like a pilsener. the aroma here is only lightly hoppy to me, soft limey citrus balanced by crackery dry minimal pale malt, its simple and clean, almost mouthwatering in a style that rarely has that effect on me. the flavor isnt glamorous or anything, but its fresh and very crisp for an ipa type, the hops are there from start to finish, again lime, but with subtle floral and even juniper notes, well selected, timed, and dosed for sure. there is enough malt to balance, but its perfectly dry in the finish and completely effervescent in the feel, its a beer that can go down in just a couple of sips, and thats how i like it, better cold than warm too. an easy drinker but also a nice compliment to the fried chicken in here, it seems built for that kind of food. the beer here is always excellent, but they never seem to get any love from the local beer geeks. i am a huge fan.

12 oz. can poured into willibecher.

A- Light gold, with some good clarity. Head is off--white and stays around well, and rocky. Good lumpy lacing.

S- Sweet malt character, bready. Some citrus pith, candied orange peel and a bit of pine.

T- Light flavors: sweet malt character and some dry citrus. Pithy.

M- Body is light, drinks fairly sweet and finishes crisp. Slight pithy linger.

O- Nice. Mild, but tasty. Easy drinker.
