I stopped in just as a storm was about to break; I had been riding my bike on the nearby Cherry Creek Trail and rode over looking for shelter. A pretty bare bones brew pub; the beer I had was good as I waited for the storm to clear. On a Saturday the pub was full of patrons at tables, talking and enjoying themselves; families, friends, etc. No entertainment other than that, no food, so if you're already in the community and have friends there it's great to stop by. Otherwise, a great place to find shelter from the rain.

Comrade brewing quickly became one of my top brewery experiences in recently memory. Part of it was just the excellence of their WCIPA-focused selection. But the larger part was the overwhelming friendliness of everyone I encountered—from the beertenders to the regulars and everyone in-between. I won’t be forgetting my visit anytime soon.

The parking lot is crowded and kind of annoying. The picnic tables outside have a nice view of the jiffy lube. The inside is separated into a rail on the right where beer is ordered and tables on the left where people drink them. The employee who poured my beer was pretentious and a bit of a douche. The beer was wildly mediocre. No food. Nothing about the place was particularly enjoyable.

V - in a strange minimalist, mini-mall, and old garage setting. Love the garage doors, spartan, good use of concrete. Chill, relaxed, but I wouldn't say "warm and charming."
Q - the beer is great here, if you like old school west coast IPAs that are transparent, and some other traditional European styles and occasional dark beers. Don't expect (necessarily) funky sours or Gose beers here (that would be Crooked Stave, or TRVE). For what they focus on, it's spot-on.
S - Can be hit or miss; sometimes chatty, sometimes outright "it's Monday and I hate everyone" hostile. Strange, but pretty typical in this industry.
Sel - Like it should be obvious, the IPAs dominate here, but they do offer some range every time I go. It won't just be a hop-drubbing to the tongue every time. Unless you like that kind of thing... which I do. Cheers! GO TO COMRADE.

Cool commercial space in small shopping plaza across from a Jiffy Lube. Open spacious high-ceiling and open garage door counter seating. Broken L-shaped bar to the right of the main seating room has 8 seats on one leg and is a service bar opposite the front wall. 20 well-assorted beers on tap - we stayed for trivia so I had 5 or 6, all solid to really nice, I really enjoyed the superdamp. Friendly bartenders, and tasty food truck. Wednesday night trivia- first time we every won anything: only a free pint, but a lot of fun. And there was plenty of free parking.

I love this place. I get beer to go on my way home. The atmosphere is cool, the lineup is always diverse, but the hops are always best here. Superpower has been a Denver staple for a couple few years now. As a mechanic I'm sad another auto repair shop has been revamped into a brewery, but what a damn fine one.

Stopped in during a 1 week visit to Denver, wish I hadn't.

I've never been more turned off by the service and atmosphere at another brewery. The taps and seating area are completely separated from one another in what seems to be an attempt to limit integration between customers and employees. There are zero seats at the bar, and maybe this is a good thing because...

The arrogance of the employees concerning their beer was astounding. I explained that we were visiting for a week, asked for other local recommendations, and was told that they didn't give recommendations for other breweries. When I asked if there were cans or bottles because I would like to bring some stuff back to Milwaukee, an employee literally stepped up into my face and told me that they would never can or bottle and that they were not interested in serving customers that weren't going to come to their brewery.

I'll give them that the beer was decent, and that there's the possibility that I merely showed up on the wrong day. However, despite those two things and regular trips to Denver, I will never step foot into Comrade Brewing again.

(#41 of 49) We decided to visit here based on the very favorable comments in the Denver threads on the BA site. The pub is located along a busy retail street in a strip mall setting that appears to have all auto-related service businesses. The overhead doors that are across the front of this pub seem to indicate that the brewery is probably occupying space that formerly held a service garage too. There is ample parking to the front of the building. The interior is large so the place was a bit noisy. We ordered at the front bar where there is no seating (there is a small side bar with about 10 stools), and then sat at a bar-like table that spanned one of the front overhead door openings and looked out at the quick lube business.

This was our fourth pub visited that day and we were getting close to saturated with beer before a planned dinner break (there is no food served here, although a food vendor's cart was parked just outside the front door), so we decided that we wanted to try mostly light-tasting beers. We ordered a sampler flight of 6 beers (13 were available). One was the milk stout with coffee, and the other five were light beers. Each was brewed correct to style, and each went beyond the typical characteristics of its style. However, none of them 'Wow'ed us like we were expecting from the BA comments and reviews. All of them were rated between a B and C grade. (We later learned from a brewer at another pub that evening that the dark beers are what have earned Comrade its hyped reputation, so take my above comments in 'review' of their beers for whatever they are worth.)

Since we liked the beers that we ordered, and since we later learned that we ordered the wrong beers, I'd give this brewery a second chance and make another visit if we are ever in the area again.

Tucked away in southeast Denver is a brewing gold mine - Comrade Brewing. No they are not communists, but they do have a communal mission to produce fantastic brews and they succeed at that in a big way. Superpower IPA is their flagship offering, but the roster of excellent suds beyond that runs 10-12 deep. All beer connoisseurs should make this a definite stop.

Another neighborhood brewery. If this is yours, or if you're in this neck of the woods, you'll enjoy it. Big, spacious, relaxed, good beer, open to the outdoors, dog friendly.

Right off the highway, easily accessible on your way to or from Colorado Springs. I've heard some CO people complain about Denver's traffic, and coming from Boston that is just precious.

Anyhow, Colorado is the world capital of deceptively large breweries located in stripmalls. Comrade is spacious, the interior is faux industrial, and they're going with a Soviet theme that is utterly bereft of weight or meaning: the dudes behind the bar wear black t-shirts, and the wall is emblazoned with a hammer and sickle made out of hops and barley.

The beer selection is wide and varied but consists almost entirely of mainstream American styles. They don't stretch toward the extreme, and I appreciate that, and all their beers are above average.

Denver is so brewery rich that I have trouble contextualizing these places--like I can't say "you should definitely stop here," or anything. But I had a nice time, it was easy enough to get to, and if you're in the area you should probably stop by.

This is a great addition to a neighborhood that really doesn't have anything like this. Beer is high-quality and fresh, and they've got a great variety. The communist/Soviet theme is a fun one with all the pictures on the walls and the name of many of the brews, so that's a nice tie-in. Food truck outside as is the standard for tap rooms, but no pretzels or snacks inside unless you buy popcorn, so a demerit for that. But this is still a good hangout, and they've got plenty of non-beer drinks too for the others in your group that don't drink. Lots of families with kids here, so it's good that they accommodate that.

Was here while they had a holiday party for a company in town as well as a yappy hour in the winter. While crowded, the vibe was great and I was very impressed that the service did not suffer with the entire pace packed. I would love more parking, but that's only a minor inconvenience for a great place neighborhood place like this. Always a must visit.

First stop on a quick whirlwind tour of Denver.

Odd location, kind of an auto repair strip mall. Sandwiched between two shops. But the inside is nice and large, with lots of room to spread out. Kind of quiet on an early Friday afternoon.

Beer selection consisted of about 12 taps, leans toward the hoppy side with quite a few of their offerings, and I kind of wish they had a few more different styles to choose from. But these guys are good at making hoppy stuff.

Quality is on point. I had a couple of beers and both were very tasty.

Service was fine, the first guy I ran into when I walked into was kind of quiet. The girl that served me my second beer was more talkative and friendly.

Overall, a very solid place. Would definitely recommend and return to if ever in the area.

Located in a strip mall so not the greatest surroundings. The chill vibe and ample space more than makes up for it though. Very laid back place to hang out. The beer is great. Possibly the best hoppy beers in Denver. Bartender wasn't very interested in talking about beer or anything else when I visited offering snippy one word responses. The place was nearly empty so it's not like it was busy. Maybe he was just having a bad day... Either way, Comrade is on the short list of must visit breweries in Denver IMO.

Cool place with food trucks outside. Eyed me as I walked in and immediately asked if they could get me something. Great service. Came because of the hype around the wet hop superpower IPA. It was good but not my fave. Tried the standard superpower, also good but mostly just super bitter. Didn't catch the citrus or pine notes as much as I expected to from what I'd read. You really have to focus to notice them at all. Still a solid, bitter IPA. Got a growler of the standard superpower. Dude just filled it straight from the tap... (Yikes!) As expected, kinda flat when I opened it later that night. Poor form there in my opinion, maybe I'm picky. I dunno. Anyway, overall a good spot with good IPA. Didn't try the other offerings so can't comment.

Pretty cool place! Nice atmosphere in an old garage, plenty of tables or bar space. They had a large selection of great beers, super IPAs and the Koffee was awesome! They don't do food, but they had a third party food company serving italian "pub" food from a "food wagon", which was ok, but it did the trick. I did go on a Wed night and may not go on Wed again if they do trivia every Wed. It was pretty loud and my friends an I were practically yelling at each other to communicate, and ironically, a girl at the table next to us, listening to the trivia questions, asked us to hold it down. LMAO!

Service was terrible.. the servers at the bar have conversations amongst themselves and could care less about the 10 people waiting to just order a beer. I couldn't believe it was real, completely careless service. Dude actually leaves the tap area and has a 15 minute conversation with a random friend of his, which is normally great, except there were 5-10 people just waiting at his station to order.... I was trying to close out my tab. Absolutely terrible service. the IPAs are very good, the scene is nice, but the service is stupid.

This place rocks - period. Whether you like a particular style made here is really not the issue since all of the beers tasted (and I tasted all available!) were extremely well made and of the highest quality. David and crew are simply doing a fantastic job and in a short time have created one of the best breweries in the state. Kudos. With all of the breweries in the greater Denver area, this is a must stop.
