This IPA is a medium bodied, mildly bitter ale with a forwardly intense floral and fruity hop aroma balanced with a blend of European and American malts that lend a smooth finish leaving you wanting the next drink.

Appearance: Golden amber glass has good clarity and holds a sticky off white head that puts a lot of lace on the side of the glass. The foam on the second pour is a bit excessive, a long lasting 2 fingers.
Smell: Odd, like a butterscotch note, burnt sugar, not a lot of hop notes, some light grass and as it warms light citric notes.
Taste: The butterscotch note comes through pretty heavily and the hop notes don't. It ends up being around an APA in hop intensity. There is a sugary gritty finish that saves the day and wraps the other flavors into a good package.
Mouthfeel: Medium light body, low carbonation, slightly oily finish, a bit flat but into the "cask" range.
Overall: Pretty sure the butterscotch note is diacetyl, I would recommend letting the yeast process the beer a bit longer after fermentation (diacetyl rest). May also want to look at venting during the boil. In home brew, covering the boil can lead this way. That said, it's not a bad flavor, it's just generally considered a flaw. The beer ends up tasting very much like an English IPA, which given the title may have been the idea, but as you're a Texas beer, I assumed American IPA was the product I was buying.
I don't regret the 6 pack, but I think I'd try a different style next time I see them. I like my IPAs large and from the West Coast. This is a quirky Brit lost in Texas.
Worth a try to see if the flavor suits you.

Appearance: Light burnt orange color with a mildly hazy body covered by a thick off white head that sticks around for a while, the head eventually thins out into a thick and dense lacing around the glass.
Smell: Light floral aromas followed by hops and strong grapefruit and other citrus zest fruits.
Taste: Spicy and hops dominate but towards the middle of swallowing the malts kick in and balance out the IPA. The citrus zest also come out a bit more as it warms up.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, crisp and very refreshing, fully carbonated.
Overall: This makes for a great introductory IPA
