Notes: Rotating availibility. Originally brewed in collaboration with our friends at Lervig, this opulent Russian Imperial Stout is smooth as silk while remaining complex in flavor and rich in body. Notes of espresso, chocolate, dark toffee and hints of molasses come together to create a soft dryness, making this a truly decadent experience.

330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 10. 3%, IBU 68. Pitch black colour, large tan head. Roasty aroma with some vinous hints, notes of chocolate, vanilla, liquorice and coffee. Hints of oak and molasses. Roasty flavour, medium sweet, notes of strong coffee, dark bitter chocolate, liquorice and tar, hints of vanilla. Pretty solid stuff.

12oz bottle. Poured out an opaque, jet-black color with a small, light brown head of foam. Smelled of coffee, chocolate, toffee and rich roasted malt. Bold coffee flavor with bitter dark chocolate, sweet caramel and toffee, too.

A: Pours an opaque yet still clear thick viscous jet black in color with just shy of moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and very faint dark cola brown colored highlights. The beer has a finger tall dense foamy dark mocha head that reduces to a large patch of thin film covering the entire surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Slightly stronger than moderate aromas of roasted malts, charred malts, and dark malts with a light amount of dark fruit (fig + raisin) and toffee sweetness. Moderate aromas of licorice, dark roasted coffee, and dark chocolate.

T: Upfront there are strong flavors of roasted malts, charred malts, and dark malts with a light amount of dark fruit (fig + raisin), molasses, and toffee sweetness. That is followed by slightly stronger than moderate flavors of dark chocolate and dark roasted coffee (like espresso). Finally there is a light flavor of licorice/anise and earthy hops. Moderate amounts of lingering roasty bitterness.

M: Medium to full bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Smooth with a hint of alcohol warming in the finish.

O: Enjoyable but I was expecting more sweetness to go with the name - a really nice big roasty stout. Drinks pretty easily but this is definitely a slow sipper for me but a really good choice on a cold snowy December evening.

Dark, dark brown, nearly black body; thin yet lasting head. Nice roasted grain aroma; bitter chocolate. Chocolatey, bitter flavors up front; coffee. Heavy body; somewhat foamy; sharp and bitter.

The beer ain't too shabby. There are plenty of roasted, chocolate-like flavors with a minimal alcohol presence despite a 10%+ ABV. The beer has some decent depth and complexity and fits the style.

From the bottle in a snifter. This beefy RIS pours a coal black with a nice
head of light brown foam that settles to a thick ring, thin pool, and features
some very nice lacing. Nose of subtle coffee, black licorice, molasses, light char,
and sweet chocolate malts. Flavors hit the right notes with roasted malts adrift
in a sea of dark cocoa and medium coffee blending nicely with molasses, a touch of
vanilla and notes of char. Nice mouth feel, Very nice body; smooth, medium light
carbonation, coating, lightly slick, and full on the mouth feel with a light bitter hop
note that lingers on the aftertaste.

Overall---an approachable RIS that may not break any boundaries but it is still
a solid brew worth trying.

Cheers

Black color with mocha head. Aroma has dark malts, molasses, liquorice and dark fruits. Taste starts with roasted malts, slightly smokey with some dark fruits and finishes roasty and slightly bitter. Full bodied, smooth mouthfeel. Overall it's a really balanced imperial stout, smooth and tasty.

Enjoyed this beer the day after Cigar City's Hunahpu's Day 2016 in Tampa, FL at the brewery in the tasting room. This was was dark and roasty with a good dose of hops and booze in the finish.

Served in a wide-mouth tulip here at Ceveceria Esparte in Conil, Spain.

Appearance: Thick black color with medium bubbles on the body. Has a dark ran head rising almost two finger's length.

Smell: Bland coffee scent, looks like espresso smells like instant.

Taste: Definitely a much different balance of the scent, over powering coffee and bitter chocolate.

Mouth: Medium carbonation, the after-taste is not for everyone. I'm giving it a high score because of the biased I have based on the stickiness level.

Overall: Not a bad beer at all, needs no tweaking in my opinion. Pairing it with the local ham, absolutely delicious. With food you might take a different better approach on the beer. Salud!

33cl bottle, at home. Pitch black pour, thick, with a medium height, fine-grained tan head. Smells like roasted malts, chocolate, brewed coffee, dark cherries and a bit of pine resin. The taste, follows the same notes, heavy on the roast and resin. Medium to full bodied with a soft carbonation and a chocolate bitter and resin spicy aftertaste.
