First bottled craft beer from this brewery in Beijing. This can be found under 4 different labels, but they're all the same Red Honey Ale. The "Panda Eyes" seems to be the most common tho.
Orange to amber pour, high carbonation and big bubbly head. Low retention, sticky lace.
Smells of bubblegum, banana, flowers, acidic apple, so nice fruity hops, with some hints of caramel.
Sweet malty taste, with some different grains, a tiny bit syrupy, personally it reminds me of corn puffs. Ripe banana, red apple, some tropical hints (pineapple) and citrus. Floral honey hints. A bit of spiciness too. Low bitterness in the finish, with a bit of cloying malty sweetness afterwards.
Carbonation remains big, it's also a bit too light, almost watery.
Not bad, but still not in the same league as the imports in Beijing. Still, there should be kept an eye on the craft movement here.

A 330ml bottle with no visible BB date. Acquired a while back from a webshop. Goes by the name Panda Eyes Red Honey Ale but I'm confident it's the same beer. The ingredients include honey.
A: Poured into a tulip. A clear coppery-reddish colour with good carbonation. Produces a smallish head of creamy off-white foam that lasts for a moment before settling to a very patchy surface layer.
S: Aroma of caramel malt with hints of mild grain, subtle honey, faint ale yeast and a lingering sweetness. OKish though not very complex.
T: Tastes of caramel malt with notes of barley sugar, subtle grain, a touch of honey, vague ale yeast and faint leafiness. Quite sweet, with little bitterness to speak of.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, with spritzy carbonation and decent body. Aftertaste of caramel malt, mild grain, leafiness and faint ale yeast.
O: An interesting effort but rather lacking in character and balance. Looks OK; head retention could be improved. Aroma and flavour are a blend of sweet caramel malt, ale yeast and vague honey. Little hop presence or bitterness. Body is alright. Drinkable but needs work to make it interesting. While I always want to support smaller breweries, I wouldn't say that you need to hunt this one down.

Very disappointed with this brew. Tried it in Changsha, Hunan Province in China. The beer was extremely tasteless. The aroma was very bland and there was more than average amount of foam and lace. The beer was somewhat pungent and the taste stayed in my mouth long after I swallowed it down. Not a very good beer.
