The colour is brown-red (45 EBC), the liquid is clear. The two finger airy head is beige; it sinks slowly leaving some lacing on the glass. It looks more like a dunkel than a schwarzbier.

The smell is somewhat roasted. Bitter herbs and some raw alcohol. Cookies and some red berries.

The taste is malty and refreshing. Dark wort-bread, nuts and some brown sugar. Mild bitterness with some herbs and hay. Light to medium body. The aftertaste got growing notes of raw alcohol, biscuits and a touch of fresh-cut grass. Toffee in the finish.

The carbonation is mild to medium; the mid-sixed bubbles are fresh and long lived. The liquid is qiute light.

I am confused: The label clearly state that this is a “modern schwarzbier” but it looks, tastes and smells much more like an München dunkel. Otherwise, apart from the high alcohols, this beer is not bad at all
